View Full Version : My first auction, I think I was a bit insane at the time.

Hello to everyone. I recently joined the forum after Joe won one of my auctions on eBay. I used to BBS back before I had access to the internet and I look forward to posting with people again. To all of you, my newfound peers and comrades, I submit what may be my biggest blunder this year. Behold!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3594739149&category=48752&rd=1

This was my first auction. I am, as they say, suffering from sellers remorse. I place it up here for all you to see in hope that it may bring me humility and peace within myself. Did I allow myself to get kicked in the grapes? Perhaps so. Though I still managed to turn a profit. In retrospect I would have listed many of the items individualy or in smaller lots. I guess we all learn from the school of hard knocks once in a while. I just pray I do not have to go back for summer session. The only solice I have is that someone out there is enjoying these games. I guess that's what matters most, eh?

Also: I bought an Odyssey 2 that needs a tv hook up. Any leads? :hmm:

At first when you were talking about blunders I thought that you were going to say that you were the buyer. Not to be rude but the Genesis stuff isn't with the increase in shipping that it creates. I'm a Dreamcast fan myself but there's nothing special in that lot as far as games either. The Sega CD games are probably what the bidders were interested in and $150 is probably fair. No to mention that you're making an extra $10 on the shipping as well.

I'm working on refining my S&H. I got a digital scale and a rate chart. The lot actually went to Germany. Buyer wanted airmail delivery and I estimated $70. Actual shipping cost was approx. $66.50. I am just missing the CDX mostly. Another one will stroll along someday :D

Dunno about the US, but CD Plus carts are going for a ton in Europe at the moment. Last one on ebay UK hit nearly $100 ...

Popful Mail and Heart of the Alien fetch a lot over here too. I'd say that the German buyer probably almost got his money's worth on those items alone ..

I wouldn't worry too much about it. A lot of those CD games didn't have the case, and that was good from your end. A good tip for max profit USUALLY is to sell stuff singularly, and lot up the stuff that's loose or doesn't have the power to fetch enough money on its own to make it worth your time to sell it by itself. (i.e a loose copy of madden 96 genesis, even at a penny won't sell, and if it does, do you really want to waste the time sending it, to make a penny?)

Welcome, btw. ;)

What kind of cord does your Odyssey 2 have? They were made with 2 different ones that I know of.

The most common one is just like what the Atari 2600 and few others had, so one of the Phono to F connectors will work(get it at Radio Shack).

The other had a weird connector design that the original switch box has to be used with it. If it's this last type, the easiest way to do it will be to get another cord that will work with the phono to f adapter(you can also get it at Raido Shack), and open it up and replace the old cord. I hope that this helps you out on this problem,
Tony

How in the world did you manage to keep 17 Cds and Manuals but lose the boxes? o.O

That always confuses me when I see it... why not just store them in their cases? I hope you don't still seperate them, sliding games in and out of a binder can cause scratches.

I'm happy that it works for you. I think that this system has been over looked and way under priced, but that is good for people that are looking to get games for it. I hope you enjoy playing it,
Tony

I'm real gentle with 'em though :)
I need to use the binders due to a lack of space to keep my things. I usually pack up the boxes/cases and put em up in storage. Some how I missplaced the cases for the stuff in the lot. Makes me wonder how much other stuff got lost in the abyss. As for the cases without games, they exist because of untrustworthy jackanapes that I wouldn't mind setting fire to.
