i think the whole damn gamefaqs contest is a joke, that site is visited by millions of morons a day who havent even PLAYED most of the games on that. now, i can at least say i've played 90% of the games in division 8; most of division 16; that's where i fall off. now cut the fanboy or anti-fanboy rants whatever they are but i'm STILL going to say GTA VICE CITY all the way on this one. rpg's be damned, vice city is one hella long game if played out to 100%...and theres plenty to do beyond the 100%, odd as that may sound....i'm still convinced i haven't found every little detail of the game or found every way to kill people, and i've yet to mess around with cheat codes either....

Checking the Division 16 brackets, aka, the SNES division, I was wondering how the hell Doom beats Earthbound. Then when I checked Divison 128, I saw StarCraft beat Halo. Don't get me wrong, StarCraft is a good game, but how the hell can it beat Halo? These people know nothing.

i visit gamefaqs almost daily and yes a large portion of the users are younger and therefore less knowledgeable about the older games but who cares and you cant really vote for a game you havent played so the results will favor newer games. Why make a topic just to say i know more about games than these people?

i automatically rule out any pc software. any so-called "Game" where the keyboard is the contoller is NOT a game to me; it's a pain in my arse. i tried playing GTA: vice city on pc using a keyboard and it just plain sucked. same goes for any of the oldskool pc games. sucky-sucky-five-dolla....

Your closed mindedness is going to prevent you from playing many many classic games. And aside from the PC/console game arguement, some games are just easier to control with a keyboard and a mouse. First person shooters for example, while others may disagree with me I find RPGs, adventure games and strategy games easier to play with a keyboard as well.

actually griking i used to play a lot of dos games
commander keen, duke nukem, doom, duke3d, hexen, heretic..it wasnt much fun for me. so i sold my dos-box(as i called it) this last winter and got a few more consoles. i speak not from closed mindedness but from experience and a decision based upon it. actually i much prefer a controller for FPS........makes more sense to me, having a few buttons right in one spot, and a d pad or analog sticks, instead of being all over the bloody place...
i decided to move out of that territory and stick only to consoles. console games on 27 inches are far more fun than pc games on 15 inches, to me.

I said Starcraft was a good game, just gets boring after a while. I'm sure Halo does too, but I'm not bored of it yet :-D

EDIT: Starcraft on the N64 sucks terribly. If that's what they meant, which they probably didn't, then I really can't see how in the hell it would win.

That wasnt aimed at you Lone_Monster. Yeah I know that Starcraft 64 sucked, but i was going after Kamino's comment about the whole PC vs console thing.

GameFAQs doesnt just cater to one market, they try and cover them all. Look at the top FAQ's im sure that Ragnarok and FF XI are both on that list, and those are both PC. Good games come out for all kinds of systems including PC. There is alot more to PC's than shooters (though as of late it doesnt seem that). So i guess that means that all those old Comodore 64 games and stuff that use keyboards dont count. Or the fact that I use a keyboard to talk and stuff in EQOA for the PS2, while using the controller to do main functions doesnt count either. SHIT what about Typing of the Dead??? I can only type my way past zombies in there, no "controller" otherwise. That also kills out all Gun based shooters as well, I think that your definintion of a controller is a little lax.

my past experience with keyboard BASED gaming is horrible. by BASED, i mean that the ONLY WAY YOU CONTROL is with a keyboard and possibly mouse. A gun, in my definition, is still a type of controller, i do a lot of shooting games on saturn, and nes, with the lightguns, although i'm a bad shot sometimes.... I'm one of thsoe guys who stands there for hours and fishes on dreamcast with that cool rod.
EQOA? oh, everquest online...yeah. i dont do online anymore. again, something that did not hit the spot with me. i had socom. i had TMBO. i still have ATV2 for it's single player aspect. nothing against you keyboard monkeys. its just not my bag. neither is typing of the dead......i've seen that game and it has the rift of educational....and as for c64 games, i used to have a c64. damn, i miss that thing. but all the games i had played with the joystick. if there was a keyboard method i didn't use it.
TO ME...A KEYBOARD...IS NOT A GAMING CONTROLLER. a GAMING CONTROLLER...is held in 2 hands, and has all the buttons i need on it. since i don't do online play, i don't need a keyboard to play any console game. and with the immense library of console games across multiple platforms that are available, i determined that i no longer needed old dos games...and i'd rather not fight with multiple windows versions, strangling myself over games not running...i'll just take my consoles, thanks.
