Hey, we all love our games, but this is just ridiculous.

I predict that at least one of the anti-gaming people (like Joe Lieberman or some conservative parenting group) will use this as an example of how gaming is evil because it leads people to do stuff like this. Probably he was playing GTA III right before this happened...

See, if I knew that guy, I'd break his next PS2 and then stand there and laugh at him until he cried. Then I'd put a boot in his ass (just like old times in OT).

I blame GTA3.

Indeed. They will blame videogame playing, when in fact the guy probably has a tendency to beat up his kids. If it weren't for the PS2, it would have happened sooner or later for another reason. I mean, they also found burn marks on the baby's wrists, while the father only admitted to beating the child with a belt (were the burns done in another circumstances?).
People like that shouldn't be allowed to be parents (yes, he's only the child's step-father, but it's still a parenting situation).
And frankly, at 21 months, it's not like the child would have done it on purpose. Maybe if the guy was more careful in putting away his PS2, it wouldn't be broken. x_x

Sounds like the PS2 thing was probably just a pathetic attempt to justify this sicko's actions. Kid burnt his wrists in the shower? Utter bullshit. Either the guy or the mom, or both, have been taking it out on this kid. If you would beat your 3 year old kid with a belt for breaking a PS2, you'd do it for anything. It's a good job that that guy is locked up far away from me, because I can't stand that kind of thing. It makes me mad just thinking about it..

No, not 3-year-old. The baby's 21 months old. That's not even 2 years old.

I applaud the kid for breaking a PS2. Maybe he's a future retro gamer? :P

Let me guess, the burn marks are from when the kid broke the xbox?
My son's 28 months old. I've already caught him running around with CDs he finds, wanting to play a game. One time he had his hands completely covered in peanut butter when he brought me a CD. Did I beat him? Jesus no, we laughed our heads off and took a picture.
By 21 months, you ought to know that kids get in to anything and everything. In a way, it's a good thing it was the PS2 and not a bottle of Draino or something. This has nothing to do with gaming and everything to do with child abuse.

Kid burnt his wrists in the shower? Utter bullshit.
While I don't believe that either, my older son did burn his foot in the tub once. He turned on the hot water alone... of course, it didn't burn him badly enough to scar or even blister and all it really did was teach him not to grab that particular knob again.

I think a good punishment for this guy would be to get beaten buy someone with his PS2. But if they let me do it I would show up with my XBOX. I would also bring my old Xbox controller and use it like a lasso to club this guy in the head. PS2 is too light and breaks to easily.

+1 to my list of reasons to have a supreme and utter hatred for humanity. I wouldn't be against lynching the guy in some way that would lead to death.

I actually watched this on the local news the other night. Guy lives a couple streets from my house. :/
And he's the child's step dad not his real father. And yeah... what a bastard.

the kid probably didnt even break the ps2...ps2s break all the time and it prolly just happened that sony's poor work on the ps2 happened to occur the second the kid touched the system.....
anyway...this guy should be either put in jail, or not be allowed to have children with him

This is just wrong....
and the saddest thing is, that with the PS2's reliability issues, the kid might not have even done it...

Join the club, my friend. As if I didn't need another reason to dislike mankind... many, many reasons have popped up within the last few months, but this is, by far, the worst among which I have heard and seen. I mean... jesus, the magnitude of this crime goes without saying... if the kid dies, I may just pay a visit to this fucker and bestow upon him an early trip to Death Row. Where I come from, I know more gruesome ends than the electric chair.
If you're reading this, child bleeder, know that you are doomed.

I read about that a few days ago and it really pisses me off when shit like that happens because it makes gamers look bad like people get abusive when they play games.
Hell my kid has knocked py old ps2 off the shelf many times same with a dc or 2 and who knows what else.Did I beat him?hell no it wasnt his fault It was my ex wifes for not watching him.{the times when I wasnt home that is}
I say we give the guy a ps2 and then hit him with it. LOL

That got me laughing too! That's so cute! You've got a future gamer there.
Anyways, it's awful to read stuff like this. I hope the fucker gets what is coming to him. I wish the best for the poor baby.

I think an Atari 5200 would be the ultimate punishment.
But, seriously... how could someone be so stupid?! I hope that some day, people don't suck so much...

i believe for his punishment, they should've replaced his Ps2 with a gamecube.
rofl just wanted to see if that would piss anybody off... actually i think they should replace his ps2 with one that gives nothin but DRE's and then setup a web cam right in front of his TV facing his favorite seat, so everyone can watch live on the internet as he puts a disc in, turns it on, and then gets a DRE... MWUHAHAHHAHAHAHA

thats the same age my son is, makes me sick to think about it. at that age they're just thrilled with their ability to do little things like press buttons and open cd cases. i've been thru about 3 waves of child proofing my gameroom because my son and i spend a lot of time in there. now i've moved all my CD games to top shelves, he still grabs the carts and genny boxes but they're pretty indestructible. all of my "pop open" consoles are on the top shelves and i loop every controller wire to the shelf bar so he cant pull anything down. so far he's destroyed or broken one handheld, the box to a game and watch, a couple saturn cases, a manual or two. he really loves CDs so i gave him some awful stuff like the 3DO enyclopedia to destroy. its really all about supervision, my son will never break my PS2 cause i watch him!!! even if he did, i'd just blame myself.

Being a new parent myself I know where you're coming from. I tend to cringe just that extra bit more when I read about stuff like this.
Just remember: you need to take a test to drive a car, but anybody can be a parent (unfortunately)...

Very funny, I laughed out loud at your whole post. LOL LOL LOL
No, I would love to get my hands on this guy. What a stupid mother fucker for doing that. He will only probably get like a warning or something. He needs to see a couple years jailtime.
PS2's do break on there own ALL THE TIME!

That has me laughing inside just thinking about it :D
So yeah, people suck, and hopefully this kid will be placed with some real people who actually care about raising a child...
