Sorry I didn't know what to call this topic. I am curious to get peoples thoughts and opinions on what's to come. Do you think that for the rest of the year and the years to come that there will be a lot of old prototypes and rumor mill listings to start turning up? What systems will they be found for or start to turn up for. Cheetahmen II was found in 98 and look at all the new atari protos popping up now and then. What protos do you think might eventually turn up, I myself would love to see a whole bunch of 5200 stuff be discovered, specifically any Imagic games, or wrath of quintana roo, those would be soo cool. Possibly nes stuff will be discovered more rapidly, it did have a lot of unlicensed stuff and companies that the big N put the smackdown on for not licensing their games. Do you think that their will start to be more homebrew or rereleases of games on newer systems of games that only protos existed for like atariage is doing for the older consoles. Also what rumors and protos would you like to see eventually turn up?

One more question. What game systems would you really like to see some new and original homebrews come out for, or possibly some improved hardware for? I would really like to see a new game or two for the arcadia 2001. I know this system is boring, but the system itself is good and has a lot of potential for nice graphics, it just was never used. I would love to see some awsome new 7800 games made. It had some impressive games but they were too few and far between.

I hope I didn't drag this on, but this is a topic that fascinates me a lot, plus I want to see what youall think as well

The supply of "new" protos for old systems has gotta dry up eventually. Either they will all be discovered, or the EPROMs will die of bit rot, or they'll just get trashed by someone who doesn't know any better. That said, I think new protos will keep coming out of the woodwork for a good while yet. The Internet and eBay are making more people realize the value of old "junk."

I'd like to see 5200 Wrath of Quintana Roo be discovered. 5200 Satan's Hollow hasn't been found yet, right? That's another one that would be interesting to see. So would NES Kung Fu 2. I'm really hoping Odyssey2 Pink Panther is found, although I have my doubts that coding even started for that game. Ditto for O2 Clean Up Yer Act, and the Videopac rumors Tutankham and Star Wars. I'm also hoping O2 Sherlock Holmes, Videopac Spider-Man and 2600 Pink Panther (which have been discovered) are eventually made available.

'Course, I'm not 100% up on new proto developments. Maybe some of those protos have been found/dumped already? I sure hope so!

And I'd really like to see Ms. Gorf: Jamie Fenton's sequel to the arcade game. She says she programmed it, but the source code is on ancient 8" disks that may not be readable.

New Master System games, please! There's a lot of potential in that little box.

I also think it would be cool to see someone take on the black-and-white Game Boy as a graphics challenge - maybe the same person who's gonna do my new SMS games, since they use the same chip. :D

Ditto that. It's funny that this should come up, because a classmate and mine both agree that somebody should make new software for the NES as well. The power of the NES has been tapped, of course, but that's not why I would urge someone to make games for it--I think something exciting would happen if designers were a little more limited.

I'm not totally satisfied with the new consoles and games for them. Dreamcast had the last thread of great potential, in my opinion. It just seems like the industry is stuck in follow-the-leader mode (same game, different polygons.) People seem unwilling to come up with something truly unique because they know the tried-and-true formulas can sell. But if bands like Interpol and White Stripes can look back to the simplicity of Joy Division or delta blues, why can't video games look back to their ancestors for inspiration?

To make a long story short, I think something really exciting would happen if new games were designed for old machines. Or hell, just reissue the old machines and sell the same old games again. It's the back to basics idea. It'll never happen; games aren't considered art by the industry. An old game is not viewed like an old record to the people in charge--they see no value in reminding somebody of how great something WAS.

Anyway, that's my rant--thanks for reading. -_-

I truly want to see the Bruse Lee game for the NES to surface. If there is a proto. I just want to buy it. 8-)

The Tengen Airball prototype looked pretty cool...anybody know if that's actually available?

what i'd most like to see are some lost virtual boy games turn up and be made available for play, either via a hombrew cart or some sort vboy cuttle cart.

i think we'll continue to see new games turn up for 5200 and 2600. in the case of the 5200 there are so many atari 8-bit games to port. for the 2600 its a nearly bottomless well seeing how huge the system was in its day. so many little guy programmers and start ups wanted to take a stab at the VCS market but never made it out of the gate. every now and then i get bored and go "lost game hunting" online. without a great deal of trouble i found 2 games that were essentialy complete but unknown to the community. one was an early milton bradley project called "king of the mountain" and the other was a college student hacking away. both cases turned out to be dead ends for me but theres reason to believe the games exist somewhere out there. if thats any indication we'll see a steady trickle of protos for years to come, we have top geek sleuths working on it!

I hear you guys on wanting these games. Do you that as time permits there will be a greater amount of Nes protos and maybe newer like genesis or snes maybe ps or saturn rumors or do you think that stuff is a done deal and programmers finished what they started or is there tons of stuff lost in programmers houses and warehouses just as we are finding with atari?

I keep hoping someone will find and dump Neo Pool Masters for the Neo Geo. The proto is 'known to exist'...
