G4 is showing X-Play right now...it's also stil airing on Tech TV. I assume eventually the stations will merge since some of Tech TV's programming is now officially being ported over to G4. I do have one question...what about those of us that get both? Will the channel currently airing Tech TV eventually just go blank?

I would assume so. I only get TechTV, and I'm just waiting for it to turn into G4. :/

So that's what is going to happen?

Can't say i'm happy about losing Tech TV (I liked it alot more than G4) but at least there's something left.

I can wait a lot longer, judging from what I've seen so far. Granted, G4's programming isn't as bad as the Spike TV Video Game Awards, but it's got too much of an MTV vibe for my tastes. I can't say I'm all that fond of the credit scrolls at the end of each program, either... it's like walking through a cosplay hall of horrors.

Luckily, there are only a few G4 shows I watch regularly (Judgment Day, G4tv.com, Pulse, sometimes Filter) and I'm sure they will continue. Keep the few shows I watch and I won't be upset. I think X-Play is really the only TechTV show I ever watched on any kind of regular basis and it's obviously surviving the transition as well.

Shit! I have Directv, and I don't know if I will get G4. If I don't, that would be a very sad day. A sad day indeed.

EDIT: Oh wait, Directv does get it, nevermind....

As I understand it, both channel spots will be filled by the same channel, the "G4TechTV" channel, which I really hope isn't the permanent name.

So far this is a good idea to start transitioning the shows...I just think its funny how damn much they're playing x-play on G4 compared to G4 shows on techtv.

According to G4's website, the merger officially takes place on May 28. In the meantime, each of the two channels is showing sampling of shows on the other network. I do agree that they picked a pretty sorry name for the merged channels, but what are you gonna do?
