View Full Version : Is this the greatest e3 ever?

Instead of filling up this space and wasting your time, consider what we've seen so far. e3 isn't over and yet I've seen stuff in there for everybody. Last year's e3 seemed to be highly dependant on PC stuff; here, classic titles and tons of FUN have returned; the big players are bringing their best efforts out for the public to inspect, the crap we've had foisted off on us for the last year is starting to face real competition, and overall the sense is one big WHOA.
Everything's here, from Altered Beast to Zelda, and new portables from both companies (apparently) are around the corner as well.
I truly feel like I'm having more fun than I have had at any recent Christmas, just reading about what's showing up. Wow.

E3 barely ever impresses me, I mean, I usually see a game or 2 I want to play but man...
Nintendo DS
Sony PSP
New 2D Mario
Mario 64x4
Wario Ware DS
Metroid DS
New Zelda
GTA: San Andreas (to an extent)
Paper Mario 2
And the list goes on...I mean, look at this stuff that's coming out! I cannot WAIT to get ahold of these new handhelds. Who would have thought Nintendo's showing would be so amazing? And then there's Sega's big announcement (tommorow right?)...all in all, it's shaping up to be the best E3 ever.
Xbox though, HA, what do you have? Halo 2? Oooooh, a game that's been delayed for what? 2 years now? Ugh, c'mon Microsoft...get with it. L.A.M.E.

I say yes. For as long as I've been following the industry - as opposed to just playing the games, which I've been doing all my life - this is the most exciting E3 I can remember.
Potentially 4 new Zelda games are around the corner! :)

So far so good with Nintendo's big day, but lets see what Sega, Sony and Microsnot gotta say first.

I dunno... I was at the E3 where they first introduced the Sega Dreamcast, and that was pretty damned cool. However, they've shown a lot of impressive stuff this year. If this isn't THE best E3 ever, it's definitely one of the better ones.

I've gotta second JR that though this may not be TEH BESTEST 3E EVA!!1! that indeed it is the best one in recent memory. Besides, you know how opinions are: they are subjective, and not fact, so what is to me one of the best shows ever is to another the greatest ever beheld. ;)
Ah, to have been at E3 1999 at SEGA's booth...

I'm not too impressed with most of the stuff I've seen, either. I love the english screens of Ys6 and Suikoden 4, but where's the sega ages collection? The design of the DS doesn't impress me, and the flop-o-matic (aka psp) has no shot against nintendo. Yes it has metal gear, but remember wonderswan had final fantasy.

That Metal Gear Acid is a *card game.* Yes. Not an action game. :/

Yes. It was the greatest I've seen or followed closely. Because it is the first.
I wonder, will next years be as big? I assume next year all the companies will unveil the new consoles. This year it's mainly about games. Tons of kick-ass games to keep us busy for a long time... but only after they are released. Damn.. Is it August yet? Pikmin 2 looks so kick ass. And Donkey Konga will be a great addition to my collection. I can't wait to try it out. Paper Mario 2 will be a killer game. I also can't wait for the GBA games, Donkey Kong Country 2 (The best of the three.), Mario Pinball looks interesting. Sort of brings to mind a certain other mascot who once starred in a craptacular Pinball game. Except this time it looks good. Though, Mario looks funny as a ball. But if Pokémon can do it, so can he.
And I really want the Classic NES games to come out. Don't know why anymore, but I do. But most of all, Pikmin 2.
Oh, and Star Fox looks nice. But I'm not so sure about the foot missions. Too many bad memories of Adventures. At least there is some space stuff. Better be a LOT of space stuff. Dammit. I want NO foot missions! But I'll put up with it if I can get that good old fashioned Space Shooter Star Fox we all love. Now.. just port Star Fox and SF64 to the DS and I'll be set. Seriously. I want a handheld Star Fox!

LOL
That's the only thing that even remotely piqued my interest in the PSP so far. Not anymore! I can definately wait on it, now.
Maybe they call it MG Acid because that's what Kojima was doing when he came up with that idea?

Ah, to have been at E3 1999 at SEGA's booth...
We have a winner.
I think that's gonna be the one to beat for a while.

I got to attend the 1999 E3 show on the last day it was held. Looking back, I don't think I spent my time very wisely. I did check out some of the Dreamcast's launch titles but mostly I just camped out at the Capcom booth, playing all the games and bothering the reps with inane questions.
"Wow! This version of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is FANTASTIC! Is this running on a Saturn?"
"No, it's for the Playstation."
"Are you sure? No way... no way. This can't be a Playstation game, can it?"
"Yes, sir, that is a Playstation game."
"Are you SURE there's not a Saturn hidden in this cabinet or something?"
"For the last time, sir, that is A PLAYSTATION GAME."
"Uh, OK. I've got just one more question for you..."
"It's not about JoJo's being a Playstation game, is it?"
"Oh. Er, never mind."

I want to see original titles, no more sequels and crappy licensed garbage...so no, it is not.

There's a good number of original titles being shown; but the news sites are reporting the familiar stuff first.
