Virtua Tennis for GBA

so on some down time in the hotel here at e3 i was playing the virtua tennis cart for GBA i had picked up specifically for this trip. tournament mode was sweet... unlocked a few characters... then i tried out the tour mode. tour mode will start... it let's me create my character and begin play... but when i stop the game, and go back to restart it, it hangs and makes a funny noise... i can't access it all. has this happened to anyone else? do i just have a shitty cart?

I actually just picked up that cart the other day brand new for $9.99 :)
Haven't had any problems yet, probably just have a shitty cart?
