No, the ApeXtreme will be able to play most PC games.

Whoa, that is cool... my pc isn't exactly gaming quality, so I might look into that(cause I just want to play the games with out having to worry about all the upgrades and errors and stuff)

Not trying to Phantom hate, but isnt it just a "Reciever" and not a console? From the articles and interviews ive read, they are making damn sure to point out that its a Reciever, and trying to differentiate themselves from a console.

They can market it however they want. If it sits in my living room, has joystick ports and I play games on it, it's going on my console list. :)

I think the Via and Eve handhelds are the same thing. Via is the company, Eve is the system. I believe.

Well there are 2 TV consoles coming out, and they both aren't like normal gaming systems. Then some cool handhelds. What is happening to Video Games. This sucks! :(

I agree.....You cant actually go out of the house and get a game for this. I dont consider this a "Console"

What i hate is all this online download crap that you cannot really buy, like games for the Phantom or FreeOn or some N-Gage Titles. Too bad this is getting some kind of trend

Man it took a while to find this thread, but time for an update Flack. The Apextreme and the Phantom are still supposedly coming out, Alienware's gameing system has been released, The Zodiac is out and about, the Gizmondo is nearly released and looks like a decent device (at least to me).

On the other note, the FreeOn and the Eve have been anounced officially as vaporware (good), a lot has changed since the list was first made a year ago and it needs to be updated, not for a buying perspective but as a market perspective to see what actually makes out barely and what does good, giving us as collectors a good head start.

I know there are a few more handhelds announced and even shown on the web but I can't find the names, if anyone can come up with the MIAs please help us update the thread.

Alienware released a console that only plays pc games so its a hybrid and not a true game system sort of like an Apextreme. Problem is it costs $1899, and I wont buy one for that price when my laptop costs almost half that much and does more and plays all my pc games. What are the other new handheld rumors that might be coming out soon?
