Famicom light gun?

I've recently been trying to get Gumshoe to work on my Famicom AV with a convertor and a light gun in controller port 2. I know that the Famicom is not compatible with accessories like the light gun and powerpad in slot 2... so what do I do? Do I have the use my NES for it?

Well, I'm trying to avoid have both my NES and Famicom plugged in at the same time as I can play all NES games on my Famicom.
