At a thrift store today I saw a complete TI-99/4A in the box for $5. It included joysticks and all the necessary video cords. What struck me was that it was completely white. Every one of these I have ever seen is black and silver. Does anyone know what's up with this white one?
I almost bought it but I tried to give one away a few months ago here and couldn't get any takers so I threw it away, so I decided not to buy another one (although it was tempting).

I have both the silver & black and IBM Beige one...not sure what's the difference though, I can't get either one to power up.

Doh, I could use a $5 white TI-99/4a :P
Yeah, I think it's just a color variation. Mine's silver (and non-working).

Hmmm, I never knew these had color variations. The only one I have personally seen was a silver one but the thrift wanted like 18 bucks for it so it went back to the shelf.

I have a silver and black one too (working though). I believe the beige one was an attempt to update the case for the era in which Apple and IBM had clearly trounced everyone with their similar, rounded-corners, putty-beige cases, just to try to keep it selling. Seems like an odd thing to pin their sales hopes on, but that's what happened, if I'm not mistaken.
So help me, I like the TI 99/4A. I wasn't even really planning on getting into retro computer collecting, but Tunnels Of Doom rox0rs my sox0rs, so there ya go.
