Need Help from a Flash 2 Advance owner with Windows XP!

I desperately need some help from a Flash 2 Advance owner that is using Windows XP.


I'm having problems with the Driver for this device.


I just got a Flash 2 Advance Flash card with USB Linker. It's the 256mb version.

I installed it onto the PC, and it appeared like it installed ok. Then I got Pocket NES, and I was trying to transfer over Pocket NES, with a bunch of NES roms over to the GBA, but for some reason my PC and GBA aren't communicating correctly.

It has something to do with the Driver, and the fact that I'm using Windows XP. For some reason, I understand that this device and Windows XP, don't go together to well. Apparently it works just fine with Windows ME, but when you use it with a computer with XP, it's kind of tricky to get the right driver on there.

Well, I went to the Flash 2 Advance website, www.flash2advance.com, and I downloaded the file that is supposed to fix this problem, but I still can't get the damn thing to connect right.

On top of all this, I'm really horrible in terms of computer skillz. I don't really know what the hell I'm doing. So I need somebody to help get the right driver on there. I kinda need somebody to like walk me through the process, because this is driving me crazy!

I just got this thing, and I'm dying to check it out.

I have Flash2Advance w/XP no issues here. Been awhile since I played with it, but everything I needed besides for teh romz were on the cd. It was a bit tricky seting up the first time, getting it to go into slave mode or whatever it called, I wasn't doing something in the proper order. But it was pretty simple once I figured it out. But drivers were never an issue for me.

The CD that I got with it has drivers for Windows 2000 and Windows ME. I tried using the drivers for Windows 2000, and it appeared like everything was working fine, but then once I wanted to actually transfer something from the PC to the GBA, no connection was made.

Is there anyway you could do me a favor?


Could you go into your Device Manager, and click on properties and see which driver you have that is working on XP?

I've tried just about everything, and I can't get this to work. I know that it has to do with the driver, and if I had the right driver, then everything would be fine.

Not sure if it needs both or either or what. The first one listed shows no info at the bottom just says Unkown. And yes that is XP, I just use the classic look. :)

I didn't need to d/l anything for it to work, I think it searched off the cd and found workable drivers. But I *did* have a time at first try to get it working, not from drivers, but lack of good directions as to when to turn the GBA on and set the slave mode, and just config'n it first time through.

I finally got it working! Yes!

You know, I actually think it was just a matter of me pressing start and select on the GBA at the right time for the program to sync with the GBA. So I think I had a working driver, but I just wasn't doing it right, in terms of when it tells you to turn off your GBA, then turn it back on and hold start and select. I was waiting too long to press start and select.

But now I got it working and everything is kosher.


I loaded up Pocket NES, along with about 100 NES roms. Absofreaking beautiful baby! What a great emulator. It's like having the entire NES library on the go, with very solid emulation.

I only put 100 NES roms on there, but I could fit quite a bit more.

I would like to try out the TurboGrafx-16 emulator on it, but since I just got Pocket NES on there and working, I figure that I should probably just stick with that for a little bit.
