I just got a DC & wish to emulate Colecovision games on it. I heard/saw it on TechTV's Call for Help, & visited some sites & successfully downloaded/burned the .zip files onto CD-ROM. When I use them in the DC, nothing happens. Am I missing something? Does the DC VMU have anything to do w/ it? I'd like a (simple) step-by-step process about exactly what to do, preferably from someone who had success on this.

THANKS in advance!!!

I haven't looked, but I'd imagine dcemulation.com would have something to help you. Burning the zip files to a CDROM definitely won't help. You'll need to actually unzip them, and probably read some help files to figure out what you're doing.

You're gonna need sbiffy.com for this one. I can't think of an easier way to burn Dreamcast discs.

Wait a minute here... don't tell me you just opened up Nero and burned a bunch of zip files on there as if you were burning a regular data CD... because it doesn't work that way. The disc has to be burned very specifically so that it will actually work in a Dreamcast.

Go to Sbiffy (http://www.sbiffy.com), get Selfboot Inducer, and a file called "Dcolem_0.99_bO.sbi" from that site, and use that to create a CD image that you can then burn with either Nero or DiscJuggler (or better yet, Alcohol 120%). It's the most "idiot proof" solution for burning Dreamcast stuff like this.

By the way, I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think Colem supports zipped roms, so you'll probably want to unzip all your roms before you stick them on the disc.

Yeah, I think that's what we did. Holy crap, I forgot I posted this!!! Busy w/ the games I got w/ it, I guess.

I'll try this tonight. Thanks for your wisdom & help!

Another question:
The Inducer part worked fine now. It loads on the Dreamcast. However, now, when ROMS were added to the disk, the DC defaults to the Music player instead of going to the Emulator. The ROMS are unzipped on the cd. Any ideas on what the trouble is now?

OK- now using a disc w/out ROMs on it, I can get thru the menu to this:

[X] games
[A] options
[Y] controls

When I choose [X] games, I get this:

1st_read.bin (431348)
binload.bin (6200)
font.raw (614400)
ip.bin (32768)
mainmenu.dxl (274)

When I choose ANY of these I get the rainbow COLECOVISION & beneath it TURN GAME OFF BEFORE INSERTING CARTRIDGE OR EXPANSION MODULE. I cant go any further...

Also, at some point, cant I insert a disc w/ the ROMs on it & go from there? Or must the ROMs be on the disc w/ the other programs (selfbootInducer, Dcolem, etc)?
