First stop was at a place called Thrifty Joe's Books:
Final Fantasy Anthology Guide- 7
Final Fantasy Chronicles Guide- 7
Happy I found those, especially since I've been wanting to replay FFIV. Sad thing was I wanted to ask if I could have or buy their old box of NES/SNES manuals and they're like...ohhh...those? We threw those out a week ago.........AHHHHHH!!!!
Anyhow, my friend's Tim and Loius over at Gamezone had gotten back from going to E3 and had just reopened their store and were giving away E3 bags with every purchase. So I bought Gradius III for the SNES for 9 bucks and got:
Large Black Nintendo DS Shirt
Demos for MLB 2005 & Sly 2
Gods Of War Poster
Killzone Poster
The Getaway: Black Monday sticker
Metal Slug Sticker (YAY!)
Lemony Snicket's Unfortunate Events Stickers
Gran Turismo 4 Sticker
Square Enix Button
Some sticker I can't read...looks like it's for a car
Some weird toy magazine??
Not too much hunting, just went to grab a few free things mostly but not a bad day. Had TJ;s not thrown out those manuals a week ago I'd go dumpster diving for that shit.

I agree. Those nes books are sweet though.

05-18-2004, 04:31 PM
Wait....what? FAKE!!?!?!? Dammit. Oh well. If it plays fine and saves like a normal game I'll be fine. the last import game I bought off ebay (Bubble Bobble Old & New) I think is a fake, too. But It plays fine, saves fine, and is in english. So we'll see when it arrives....I guess I gotta be more careful. I thought it was suspicious when the same guy put up the same item like a day after I bought this one. Is there any quick and simple way to spot fakes?
Jibbajaba
05-18-2004, 05:17 PM
There are many ways to spot a fake GBA game. A crooked label has got to be chief among them. A real GBA game will have a number embossed into the label, and the nintendo seal of quality will be very detailed and not at all blurry. But neither of those things are easily detected on eBay. The broken-down box should arouse suspicion but it by itself is not incriminating, but the crooked label gives it away. My friend buys fakes from some store in Sacramento, and all the labels are crooked. I have never bought a gameboy game and had the label be crooked. Thy have machines that put them on. The fake labels are put on by some greasy game pirate in the back of some shady store in central hong kong that sells Brown Bear gall bladder and ground up rhino horn.
Its just a summation of things. If the box (which is broken down) is in such good condition, then where the hell is the instruction manual? Oh, and anytime you see the phrase "Brand New but not Sealed" thats a dead give-away, especially when the item is located in Hong Kong or the Philipines, or Taiwan, etc.

Here's what I picked up today from the local Goodwill:
An Atari 5200 console, most (not all...grr) of the hookups, 6 joysticks, 5 spinners (!!), and a touch pad (with a Star Raiders overlay, but no Star Raiders...), and these carts:
Centipede
Galaxian
Joust
Pac-Man (x2)
Popeye
Real Sports Baseball
Space Invaders
Super Breakout
All for just $17.
EDIT: It has come to our attention that all the controllers included with the Atari 5200 are actually Atari 2600 controllers. The Management regrets the error.

Wow, congrats on the 5200 Gap, I would love to find one of those.

Robot Tank
Ice Hockey
Realsports Boxing
2.99 each, complete
NES:
American Gladiators
SMB/DH

3.99 each, all with manuals/sleeves
Why did I pay 4 bucks for mario/duck hunt? I have NO IDEA! Maybe because it came with a nice looking manual and the cart looked really good and not like someone had shat upon it?

Why did I pay 4 bucks for mario/duck hunt?
exactly... I wouldnt pay .50 for the game no matter what condition, If it came with the manual and sleeve I would pay up to a dollar. Thats almost as bad as when I paid 11.00 for a complete mario world. I really wanted the game though and didnt have it yet. I have 3 now. :embarrassed:

Nope. Got 1 complete, 1 with manual, and 1 loose. I wasnt trying to be a dick to the person who bought the mario/duck hunt for 4 bucks, just agreeing with him on why did he buy it. Maybe he was just on the shrooms.. "ahhhh.... nintendo... taht looks like the nintendo championship cartridge!, 4 dollars?! damn.... whaaaa.... yeah!"

I got 6 games this week, all thanks to my friend Erik who (I think) uses the name EvilE on these boards. The first 3 he sent me in a trade...I think he was far too generous in regard to what I sent him. He sent me:
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (Dreamcast)
Freaky Flyers (PS2)
Rogue Ops (XBox)
Then he sent me a code to use at EB Games' webside to get 25% off used games and I used that to get the following 3 games:
Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando (PS2)
Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (Xbox)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (XBox)
That Buffy game was the first one. I don't know if the code is still working but anyone wants to try it out, here it is...
