It says in the description that if you use buy it now the price will be $40 with free shipping. Why the hell not set the buy it now to $40 right where it should be? This is fraud, dammit!

Better read the description! Oh Well someone bought it!

It clearly states "Use 'Buy it now' and total price will be $40 and you get free shipping within the continental USA"

Maybe he put the BIN really low to attract attention ?
I see it more as creative marketing ;)

Well, it also says...

Payment is due within 7 days of auctions close. I am only accepting Money Order payments. No Personal Checks. Shipping in the USA is $5.00, but it will be free if you use 'Buy it now'.

anyone else notice this?

Negative-feedback bidders must pay $5 thru Paypal before bidding. But this will be deducted from the final bid if you win

I think the seller did it intentionally to try to avoid ebay fees.

I'm just surprised he's got quite a bit of feedback and still pulls a bone head stunt like this.

I'm pretty sure it's just to avoid fees. Yahoo auctions sellers in Japan will sometimes say that the "real" price of an item is 10x the ending price, just so they don't have to pay as much in fees. Sucks if you ask me.

Not to mention some of the Yahoo Japanese sellers make the bidder pay there seller's 3% fee or whatever it comes out to.

The buy it now price and final bid were $.05 then the winning bidder owes $.05. I don't care what the rest of the auction says. I say pay the $.05 plus the $5.00 shipping and let him complain to eBay if he doesn't like it.

Actually the auction says free shipping if you use BIN, so the buyer owes $0.05 total. If it were me, I would have paypaled the guy the nickel as soon as I bid and then waited. When the guy says he wont sell it i would threaten to tell ebay that he is refusing to sell the item. Im sure you can get your account suspended for that. Someone should email the winning bidder and tell him to come in here and tell us whats going on.

So if you don't win you're out $5? Feck that noise.

I thought there was some kind of 3 strike rule or something for that.

No the 3 strike rule is if you get 3 Non-Paying-Bidder Forms filed against you.
Ebay can and will suspend your account for just one violation of their rules if they want to.

he had this one set up as a BIN and the real price would be $80 with free shipping, but the BIN is gone.

I check ed this MF's feedback, he's more of a bidder than seller. The only auction that was viewable was this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3644&item=3068245944

The winning bid was only 2 cents, but to cirucmvent the fees this asshole charged $20 for shipping in the US. Christ. Apparently the bidder was cool with it since he left him a positive f/b. x_x
