Granted, it's been a long time since I got a Sega system new, probably close to 10 years now. I may be wrong, but I don't remember either of them being shrinkwrapped. And the Xbox I got new recently wasn't shrinkwrapped either -- it just had stickers over the tabs to open the box. My other concern is that the buyer of the other "sealed" system is NARU.

I'm not trying to rag on the seller or the bidders, but I don't really see the appeal of buying something for older systems sealed. Yes the resale value is high and that'd be great if I was in a pinch but if I buy something I want to enjoy it, you know?

If I ever got my hands on a shrinkwrapped or otherwise brand new system that I didnt have, I would definitely open it up and use it, but then I wouldnt pay $400+ for any system.

id love to get that system brand new and sealed, but i would never pay that much and i would definitely open it up to enjoy not, not leave it sealed to look at the box.

I don't remember a single system I own having shrinkwrap on it when I brought it home, but I never had a cdx, so that could be the exception.

Personally, it looks like a reseal to me. I'd be wary of anyone selling a "sealed" system and stressing it sold "as is." If that's the factory wrap in such good condition, there shouldn't be a damn thing wrong with the system.

I really don't see much of a point in keeping things sealed. I don't have anything that's strictly a showpiece, everything gets played.

Hmmm, that's funny, I saw this one earlier on somethingawful, the seller posted it in the forums. When I think about it, I cant think of a single system I've ever had that was sealed.

I have a CDX that I bought new when it first came out and it has never been opened. It was purchased from Toys 'R Us and it was never shrinkwrapped. I suppose a retailer could have decided to shrink it, but given how rigid the CDX box is, I don't really see the point.

maybe he just said its sold as is because he has never opend it somaybe if the manufacture didnt do something right, there are no returns.

Yeah, it could just be a blanket thing to cover his butt if there's something wrong with the manufacture, but if he's selling a sealed system that was never originally sealed in the first place, stressing an "as is" sale seems suspect.
