I always wanted to get a 3do as a kid but couldn't afford it but I can now. I was just wondering if there was any good reasons to get a 3do because people rarely talk about it let alone mention good games. It doesn't have to have good rpgs just fun games.

Oh, the 3DO gets talked about. Just do a search in this forum and I'm sure you'll turn up a few conversations along with a big "Top [insert number here] List".

Well I have to say this system sucks by most standards unless you love full motion video games. If that's the case I suggest you get a Sega CD as well. If you can get one for cheap then go for it and by cheap I mean less than $40. There are a handful of games that are fun on this system but I think for the most part you need to find the joy in some bad acting from Tia Carrear and Mark Hamill. The collector in me made me buy one of these a while back but i never found much joy in it so I turned around and sold it because I needed the money. It defines the awkward moments in video game histiory. If you do get one there is a 3DO top 20 here.

There are also some decent early 3-D games on the system, although as Joe pointed out the frame rates are often chunky compared to what we're used to.

I got one for $50 and have about 20 or so games for it. Road Rash and Return Fire are near must haves. as "footnote" consoles go it's a pretty solid one. I guess it depends on what other consoles you already have, for example if you don't have a SNES or Dreamcast I'd pick those up first...

Cheers and welcome to the forums!

If you are a collector then I say yes get it.

If not then Its not a very good system.

Since you did want it as a kid I say get it.

It took me 14 years to finally own a Neo Geo system. Just something I had to own.

Thank Goodness 3do's are cheap

If you can find one in a good price range with a bunch of games I'd say go for it. It's got quite a few good games imo. Use to play it all the time at my friend's house back when I lived in Florida.
