God. I fucking hate these kinds of sellers.
I got screwed by one a while back (my dumbass for not reading his auction thoroughly) and the bastard charged 7.50 on shipping for manuals, required insurance, and WOULD NOT combine shipping....WHAT THE FUCK?? Is there a particular reason people won't combine damn shipping??!
Ugh...worst ebay purchase ever.

Hi,
$15 shipping plus $4 for insurance? Are you smoking crack? Seriously, you cannot possible give a valid reason for charging so much.

thing is, there are LOADS of ebay sellers charging outrageous shipping for games ($10, 7.95 + 2.00 each additional game, etc) and you look at the feedback and either they ALL ship media mail (about 2-3 bucks depending on whether it's 1 or 2 games), or end up refunding folks who were too lazy to scroll down 500 feet and see the not so fine print saying "bend over, we'll drive". actually, the whole big type and overwhelming multi-column descriptions are part of the scam, as if you see a price that's too good to pass up (and a multi-hundred feedback), you're more likely to hit the bid button than to go read the whole 900 word description..
now i know packing supplies cost money (hell, i've shipped out a few hundred boxes myself), but it's pure nonsense for ebay to let these jerks rip people off on a daily basis. of course, writing ebay does NO good at all, because not only do they blow you off with one of those "well, you should ONLY but from OUR sqaure trade sellers" e-mails, they try to make it look as if the bidder is the one responsible for choosing to make a purchase from a scumbag sellerTHEY let into their online mall (as long as the rent is paid, you can do pretty much as you please)... go figure

I know exactly who you are talking about. He has quite a few games in his eBay store that I want. I prices his games reasonably but then makes up for it on shipping. I wanted to buy some of those 10 manual lots from him but $7.50 for shipping = kiss my white ass. And refusing to combine shipping??? I dont get it but whatever. What sticks in my craw is that he has an assload of positive feedback.

The REPLY! Holy fuck, eat my ass this is long. My intended reply is below...
Hi, this is Judy
Oh, yes we can give you a valid reson! Because we seek to provide our customers with a wide array of products to select from. The merchandise that we do not stock, we use the "Manufactures Forfillment Service." This do cause the "Shipping/Handling &Insurance Cost" to be a little higher for us, because on certain items we us an "Order Forfillment Service." But still, the little higher shipping cost is minor when our customers can get a factory new brand name $300 Leather Coat, for a total cost to them of only about 60 bucks. You can't even get a good cloth coat for under $150 today. Where if we purchase the Coats Wholesale in lots of 500, they would us about $90 to $125 each. But if we agree to sell ONLY this Manufacture's Brand Name, they agreed to ship and process the Coats at $38.75 each plus insurance. Well, this was a major "Coup" for our Customers. We seek to obtain for our customers the lowest possible total cost on "Factory New" brand name merchandiise.
The Jewelry and rings are Custom made to order, and are not shelved Jewelry. The shipping cost is what the manufacture charges us to ship and process the custom made Jewelry order. But these Jewelry items retails for over $200. Thus the shipping cost is minor compared to the value of the Custom made to order Jewelry piece. This is not costume jewelry, but Custom made to order Jewelry.
Thus, our Business Model is to deal with your total cost of the item, and not the shipping cost. In seeking to get you merchandise at 50% to 90% less then what you would pay for the same item in a retail store.
The same with the $69 XBOX and PlayStation 2 Video Games. Due to the Volume of Games, we cannot stock 5000 titles. So we use a "Manufactures Forfillment Service" and we are charged $14.75 to Process and to Ship a Game. We open the did at only $9.75 on Video Games, which otherwise sells in the retail stores from $49 to $69 per Game. Video Games as you know are expensive, even at the Wholesale level. They would cost us $30 each. But if we agree to sell only from the a certain Manufacture Distributor, they would agreed to ship and process our customer's orders at $14.75 each. Now that is better then our customers paying $49 to $69 for these otherwise expensive Viedo Games. This also was a major "Coup" for our customers. So, we are not dealing with the shipping cost here. We are dealing with the total cost of these expensive Video Games for our customers, and working the best deal that we can for our customers.
On the merchandise that we warehouse and ship, we can ship for less cost to us, and you will find our shipping cost on many items in the $6.75 range. Such as the DVD Movies.
But we are clear upfront. We post our "Shipping/Handling &Insurance Cost" on each listing. For all bidders may review the shipping cost before they place their bids. Many of our customers look at their total cost for the item, including the shipping cost, to compare the value and the deal they are getting. That is the correct way to view the deal you are getting. On a $300 Leather Cost for example. If the opening bid is $50 and the shipping cost is $10. What is the different if the open bid is $9.99 and the Shipping cost is $39.00. This item would still cost you $50.00.
We know that some people want to get the XBOX and Playstation 2 Games at a shipping cost of around $5.00 at most. If that was so, then you could not get them at the open bid of only $9.75. Because if we elected to purchase them from the Distributor, they Wholesale these Games for $40 each. We're talking "Factory New and Factory Sealed" Video Games. So we agreed to let them process and ship them to you for only $14.75 and we open the bid at only $9.75. Again, seeking to get you the lowest possible price, for the otherwise expensive $69 retail store price video games. So we do a little "Business Dancing" so to speak, with the Manufactures to get you the lowest possible cost. This shipping cost is minor, compared to getting the item for 50% to 90% less then what the retail stores are selling these items for.
But to offset this higher shipping cost for you for our customers, on our auction site we "OPEN ALL BIDS AT $1.00 to $9.99 on "Brand Name" and "Factory New" $49 to $500 Retail Valued Merchandise. You can just purchase your items, "BUY NOW" at the "Opening Bid Price" of $1.00 to $9.99 at our ebay Discount PLUSS Wholesale Store at: http://stores.ebay.com/discountplusswholesale.

First off, let's keep the subject on games. This email was not from a clothing auction, but a videogame auction, specifically Xbox/PS2/GC.
Second, 'Order Fulfillment Service' is simply idiot language for saying 'Selling things we don't have on hand'. Hence why your feedback is littered with 'Out of stock' complaints. You get a list from your supplier, and you use stock photos, and hope for the best. Admittedly, it's common practice on eBay, but one would hope the seller would have up to date lists.
As far as the games selling for $50-$70, that is flat out wrong. The most current gen systems have ever sold for was $55, and that's in low density markets. Suggested retail price on all current gen games is $50. And more importantly, all your titles are old and/or did not sell to expectations - so there is little chance you'd find them at that price ever again. Using the claim that they went for as much as $70 is deceptive.
By the bulk of your response, you can infer that you offer lower bid prices, but make up the money by raping on shipping charges. The major "Coup" for your customers is that they see the bid prices, and think they may have found a deal. It just turns out that it's just the usual sneaky seller deception you can't get away from on eBay. However, due diligence should make the possible bidder read the fine print (not the spastically large fonts you and many others employ to hide the truth), and realize that it's not a deal, and skip over it.
The real "Business Dancing" here is around the customers. The shipping, the large fonted descriptions, and the claim of $50-$70. eBay doesn't really care about this sort of thing, and in some ways, rightfully so. The bidder should take care to read into the full auction. I just find it amusing to watch sellers try and defend themselves, usually with hilarious results like this one.

You've GOT to be kidding me. $21 to ship a XBox game and $4 more on top of it for insurance? That raises the total price of the game to over $40, and I KNOW I could get the game new for less then that. Even someone in the middle of nowhere could it buy it from Amazon, EB games, or some other good online store.
Lesson Number One for EBay -- ALWAYS CHECK SHIPPING CHARGES! If nothing is listed, ASK FIRST. I understand overcharging a little on shipping (almost everyone does it) but not THAT much. If the game was sent Priorty I could see a max of $8 being charged for it, and no more then $5 for media mail.

I bought 3 Sega cd games from a guy off ebay, I asked him if he would combine shipping, he said no it was too much of a hassle to figure out what went to whom and everything was shipped seperately. He seemed like he did a pretty big bulk of sales so I thought nothing of it really. But when they arrived, not only were all three games in one box, the assclown never even gave me feedback.
Where's this seller's rationale on the shipping? They say if they charged actual shipping rates then they can't start the bidding so low? Well then charge the actual shipping rate and start the bidding higher you simpleton. And what X-Box games are 70 bucks? I want names.

portnoyd,
I agree with you. This whole hoopla over the 'raping' of buyers through shipping charges should be outlawed, but apparently, ebay doesn't give a shit, because they make thousands of dollars off of sellers like the aforementioned "14.75 shipping" seller.
It's too damned bad that there are really no other contenders to take on the ebay machine.
Well said, man.
BTW, your avatar had me ROFL. Where did you get that hilarious avatar with the super nut-sacced wolf? Was that a real commercial? Where can I d/l it? LOL

If it costs them more to get the games, them why don't they add it to the starting bid price? It's not saving anyone money but....oh wait...yeah....fee avoidance!

I don't understand all the attention that this is getting. Hasn't this been discussed to death before over and over again?
If the guy charges rediculous shipping rates then don't buy from him.
If you buy something from someone without reading the terms of sale and find that he has high shipping rates then its your own fault. PAy what you owe and be sure to read his terms next time
And lastly, ebay will NOT do anything about this because while the guy is overcharging for shipping that isn't against ebays rules. eBay clearly says that they won't even investigate complaints of excessive shipping fees because sellers can charge whatever they want. BTW, here's (http://answercenter.ebay.com/forum.jsp?forum=14) another quote from ebay regarding shipping that I see people complain about over and over here.
"Question:
The seller charged me $4 for shipping, but the envelope my item arrived in only cost him $2.37 - how can they get away with this?
Answer:
Shipping IS NOT postage! The postage affixed to the package you receive is completely irrelevant. When you bid on an auction, you enter into a legally binding contract agreeing to whatever shipping amount the seller has listed - the price the seller pays is irrelevant."
Again, I think it all boils down to reading the auction descriptions and then making common sense decisions.

No, E-bay has policies on shipping charges as I said. It's "circumventing fees" which is clearly against their policies. Read the second one:
Users may not avoid eBay fees
Users may not use systems or techniques to circumvent eBay fees.
Examples:
Offer outside of eBay - offering the opportunity to purchase the item or other merchandise outside of eBay through an item listing.
Unreasonable shipping or handling costs - listings with low prices but unreasonably high shipping or handling costs.
Here's the full list:

Here is the reply I got to my first email:
Hi, this is Judy
Because we seek to provide our customers with a wide array of XBOX, PlayStation 2, Game Cubes and PC Video Games to select from. Over 14,000. We use the "Manufactures Forfillment Service." This do cause the "Shipping/Handling &Insurance Cost" to be a little higher for our customers. But still, the little higher shipping cost is minor when our customers can get a factory new XBOX, PS2 or Game Cube for 50% less then the retail store prices. That is the only reason we offer these expensive Video Games.
Our "Manufactures Forfillment Service" Charges us $14.75 to forfill a "Single" order, and that is what we charges our customers. And we open the price on the Video Games only at $13.75, which they cost us $8.73 each. So we only earn about $5 per Game. Then out of that, we have to pay the PayPal Fee, the ebay listing Fee and the ebay Commissions for the see. That is why you do not see a ton of Sellers selling the Video Games. They are to expensive to start with, and the suppliers are charging us an arm and a leg to forfill an order. But we have so many customers that want us to sell them because they cost $49.95 to $69.95 in the retail stores they tells us. And with us they can get them for about 40% to 50% less. But if you can get them for a lower price. We say, by all means go where you can get these expensive games for as low as you can get them. This is just the best supplier deal that we could find so far. Video Games are just Big Business and Hot. The Suppliers are not going to let them go cheap because the demand is do high. If you look on our store, you will see we rotate on the site over 14,000 Video Games, and we have to have a forfillment firm to handle such a vast array of Games. We do it as a service for our "Gamers" customers. They tell us, it beats paying $49.95 to $69.95 for these Video Games.

And my second email to them:
Hello,
Thanks for the quick reply. So if a "Single" order cost 14.74 to ship how many games can I win and ship together? If shipping would be the same for winning more than one game I will bid on a bunch of games!
thanks
This should be good. Please keep in mind that I have no intention to bid, I just thought they would be more responsive if I was interested in there auctions. Rather than ripping on the seller, I don't even have an Xbox. I am saving up DewU points to get and XBox, so if anyone has any point codes please PM me.

Response to my last email:
Hi, this is Judy
No, Each game would cost $14.75 to ship. Each auction is a separate purchase, independent of each other.
and what I then asked:
Well that doesn't make much sense. If it cost you 14.75 to ship a single order then adding more items to the make a larger order should actually cost the same up to a certain weight. I guess I don't understand your shipping policies.
Thanks
I really hope that nobody bids on these auctions. Maybe they will learn. I like how they try to claim that they only make 5.00 a game.
Whatever!
