I got a mysterious $5 "cash advance" fee on my credit card and I strongly suspect it is for a previous Paypal transaction. I read about this happening somewhere (I thought it might have been a topic here but a search didn't turn anything up).
Anyone else have this happen?

The only thing I could thonk of is maybe it's some kind of chargeback. Have you sold anything recently and has anyone ever filed a claim through Paypal on you?

Are you sure you havent used your credit card to withdraw cash from an ATM? Or that someone else hasnt?

If it actually came from PayPal, the letters "PAYPAL" would have to be somewhere in the description line on your statement. And, I don't think they'd call it a "cash advance".
Probably nothing major, but I'd call the bank to inquire just in case.

No it wasn't for a chargeback and it wasn't a cash withdrawal. I read up on Paypal and discovered that the credit card co. can charge money sent as "quasi-cash" as a cash advance. I've used Paypal twice in the last couple months; one was to buy some marquees from a forum member, the other one was ebay. I suspect that when I did the transaction for the marquees I failed to specify that the money was for "goods". I'll call the credit car co. today and find out for sure.
