View Full Version : Any way to test PS2 analog stick callibration?

I just picked up a new PS2 Logitech controller and it's been acting up when I'm playing MVP Baseball 2004. When I'm pitching, sometimes I have to hold the stick all the way to the right to get the cursor out of the strike zone (usually you just have to hold it just a little bit). Works fine when going to the left though. I can't tell if it's a problem with the game or controller. Is there anything like a PS2 system/controller test disc (like the NES/Vectrex test carts) that I can use to find out? I'd take the controller back to the store, but I bought it from an outlet store and was the last one they had. It's also a really great controller too, so I don't want to switch it with another brand.

I'm sure someone with more knowledge will give you better options...but for now, what I'd do is probably painfully obvious...

1. Try it with another game, and see if the right function is messed up at all.

2. IIRC, the PS2 does a "controller calibration test" at powerup, so ensure that you aren't accidentally holing the sick in an off-center position when you are turning on your system.

That's all I know to do...

If you have an adapter to connect it to a PC, (in Windows) you could go to the controller properties in Control Panel and test it there.

Other than that, the only thing I know to do would be to play a FPS and see how the aiming cursor moves around.

Thanks for the help guys. I don't even have a PC (got a Mac), so the only way I guess I'll be able to test it is with a different game. Don't have any FPS games either, but I think I'll try it with Sky Odyssey since that one has real sensitive controls.

I think it might be a problem with the game though. I'd unplug and re-plug the controller in during the game so it'll re-calibrate and will work fine. A few innings later though, the same problem happens again. Very strange.

I'd suggest buying one from a local Gamestop, and returning the possibly broken one for a refund.

EDIT: This is considering the controller in question is that huge beast-like boomerang-shaped wireless controller.
