Got a loose Flintstones: Suprise At Dinosaur Peak today from a pawn for $4 ;). I can't believe this one is starting to break the $100+ range on Ebay. Think I'll have to sell if it keeps going up.

One of the local gamestores had a summer sale so I finally picked up Jet Grind Radio, Resident Evil 2 and Space Channel 5 for Dreamcast for $7. The owner also gave me a $5 off coupon for my next purchase. Gotta love the locally owned. :)

Online at Best Buy:
Final Fantasy Origins (PS1)
The Haunted Mansion (GCN)
Simcity 2000 (GBA)
All ordered around 6:15 this morning, when they in fact were all in stock, all were $4.99 each.

Beyond Good and Evil (GCN)-I ordered this one like 5 minutes afterit went OOS. I don't expect to get it but it would be a pleasant surprise.

Had some wierdness with my local Goodwill trying to sell me a crappy yellowed mac monitor and a TANDY printer (though it looked nice) along with a Performa 637cd for $24. Got that down to half price, and when they said "hey go back and see if there isn't anything else" I found the keyboard and mouse (both dirty and I think the keyboard was a bit yellow) - after I was rung up http://www.digitpress.com/forum/images/smiles/Llol.gif

Anyhow, also got a Unitrex 800K calculator from, well, whenever (I didn't realize, but it makes sense, that the 800K is just a model designation; there was also a 800KD, still a neat little machine though), late 1970s I think; $2.

Got a BUNCH of old PC games, all boxed and in apparently fairly good shape:
King's Quest VI (big tape across the top of the box/sleeve, though, ARGH, I'm just gonna cut it, don't want to damage the box) - $4.99
Castle of Dr. Brain (I said "ah, why not") - $3
Battledrome - $3
Quest for Glory II (what a nice box design!) - $2 (Why? Because it's got a big EGA on the side? lol)
Conquests of Camelot - The Search for the Grail (LOL) (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=62053&item=8106715943&rd=1) - $2 and the box looks a lot like Quest for Glory II...both are Sierra games...hmm. They look NICE together; they're both shiny enough that from a distance I thought I was looking at some crappy travelogue software or something xD

Finally - got a '89 Tiger Batman handheld LCD game (like this one; hmm I feel like putting parens inside the hyperlink today, lol (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=363&item=5900103885&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW) - BUT - it was only cut a bit along the bottom of the plastic bubble! It's new! All of the stiff paper insert is intact! Amazing - and only $4!

Add in a couple unimportant items (two Mac mice, and one of them was apparently unused - checked the rollers, the ball itself looks new!) and my total was

$41

A bit expensive, but I've got a nice new (and now clean) 68K Performa (to compliment my PowerPC one) and a lot of nice merchandise. Pretty good if you ask me.

Now to get an Apple IIgs.

I got a boxed Duck Hunt for 25 cents from a thrift store that wanted $3 for a loose blades of steel. These were both the sticker prices.

On a more disturbing note. I went to a garage sale today (Monday???) and asked if he had an old Nintendo or Atari kicking around. The guy replied with no but mentioned he had been asked that a few times. I really wanted this hobby to stay quiet for a little longer. In my area at least.

Good thing I asked a kid at school like 4 months ago if he had old games. Back then he said no. But last Friday at lunch he said, "hey greg, dont you like old games? We evicted some house and we have to sell their stuff and there was some nintendo stuff." I said sure bring it on Monday. His aunt wanted like 30 bucks per system and 5 bucks per game. This is what I got today:

2 SNES's 1 had adapters and 1 controler
2 NES's 1 with adapters
2 N64 controlers and batter pack
Super Metroid - snes
FZERO - snes
Chip and dale - nes
Tiny toon adventures - nes (I use to love this game)

got it all for 25 bucks. It was expensive in my book, but selling one system would make all the money back. Im gonna go make an offer on 20 nes games and about 25 atari games. Ill post how it went when i get back!

From Goodwill:

Atari 5200 system w/2 controllers, RF switch, no PS - $10
Oddly, this 5200 looks to be a 4-controller port case with a 2-port board inside of it. Must have been a warranty repair or something.

Sega Genesis:
Shining Force (loose) - $1
Fatal Labyrinth (boxed, no docs) - $1
Finally, some alternatives to the seemingly never-ending glut of Genny sports games and 2d-platformers that plague my area.

Well, I took full advantage of both Best Buy and Blockbuster.

Aside from getting Freedom Fighters and ICO new ($5 and $15 respectively), I went to that other Best Buy and picked up 2 copies of ESPN NFL Football 2k4 for Xbox, $5 each. $10.58 after tax.

Took both of those back to Blockbuster and traded them for $18 a piece. When you trade in 2 used games, you get any previewed game for $9.99. Crystal Chronicles = $9.99, $28 left of credit.

Shadow Hearts: $14.99 and Gladius: $16.99. Buy one previewed game, get one halfoff.

So, I paid $11.00 total for Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Shadow Hearts, and Gladius. It was a good day. In total ended up with 5 (hopefully) kickass nextgen games for $33.

Sonic Spinball -very mint
Sonic 2 (not for resale) very mint

Then I saw a garbage pile on the way to my freinds new house where he said they have nintendo and I found a

N64 system box in nice condition

Then I found a
box for 007 goldeneye for n64 at another garbage pile, and while looking through one of the bags, my freind walks up and goes "anything cool?" and he grabs a coleco football handheld game...worthless but he wouldnt give it to me....what a jerk. Oh and at the house we went to nobody was home but I looked throught the window and saw a box full of nes and atari games and the system...buytI have to check to see if the people are there tomorrow.

I haven't picked up anything good in a week or two from any pawn/thrift/flea's, so when I ran across this stuff today at a thrift store during lunch I picked it up, even though (originally) I thought it was too high.

Acclaim Wireless Dual Turbo SNES Pads: $5
NES Advantage: $5
Genesis: Madden 95, Hockey: .99/ea
Atari: Circus Atari, Pele's Soccer: .99/ea

When I got to the front counter I found out that everything, all the time, is 50% off at this thrift. It even says so on the window, I just didn't notice it. So instead of $14, I paid $7.

Oh man, it's definitely my week. Not only do I score those 3 games on blockbusters folly, but I score again, due to blockbuster.

Kid comes in to the store today with a bunch of stuff, and among the stuff... pristine, complete, NES Action Set. We don't buy them back at Blockbuster, so I buy it off the kid right over the counter for $10. Pwn!

http://members.home.nl/nintendo/pics/n64-1.JPG

http://members.home.nl/nintendo/pics/n64-2.JPG

All complete, but i don't know what that 3rd japanse game is. It's sold to me as Go Go Troublemaker, but i can't find any info about that game when i search google. It's from Treasure/Enix ... does anybody know if this game was released in the US or in Europe by another name?

Ed Oscuro
05-28-2004, 11:28 AM
That third game you speak of is the Japanese version of Mischief Makers. It's sweet, cutesy, and lots of fun (outside of the troublesome controls). I have a '97 issue of Nintendo Power where they review it and give walkthroughs for many of the earlier levels.

The three regular-size US games lined up (all but the StarFox package, which I hope still has the Rumble Pak) look really rough to me. How much did you pay for those?

Also, I did a sort of low-end analysis on my 5 game x68K purchase. Now keep in mind that the items are said to be mint, whereas items sold at NFG and (I'm guessing) by "16-bit/Mad-Gear LLC" take into account degraded conditions.

$110 off eBay - shipped; no fees added onto final bid

Twinbee/Parodius/Gradius II/Seichuukei 68/A-Jax/Quarth
Low estimate
$50 $50 $50 $10 $15 $10 = $185
NFG Games estimate
$60 $50 $60 $10* $10* $15 = $195
Mad-Gear LLC (eBay BIN prices) estimate
$40 $40 $40* $10* $50 $10* = $190

(*this title not offered by seller or I don't remember what it cost [in case of Mad-Gear, I tend to use prices much lower than would be offered and do not take into account shipping)

In any case, it's pretty much as if I paid for Gradius II and Twinbee or Parodius and got three other titles for free. Not shabby!

This isn't classic gaming related, but I still think I snapped up some pretty sweet deals this week. The first is a GameCube for $60, including a third party controller, AV cables, and an RF adapter that supports not only the GameCube, but four other systems. The second is a pair of GameCube games, Metroid Prime and Zelda: The Wind Waker, along with a high-capacity memory card, for $30. I think I'll be set on GameCube purchases for some time to come.

One thing that really amazes me about the Cube is that it's not only sturdy beyond belief, but incredibly forgiving when reading scratched discs. Zelda looks like it was dragged through a battlefield, yet it's worked perfectly fine so far.

Finally found a copy of Mr. Mosquito.
Awww yeah.

Is that game fun? We've got a couple copies at work and I wouldn't mind picking one up for $16 - discount.

Thank you :)

The three US games where in the package, i paid 75 euro's for the console with the games, and i think it was a good deal (Majora's mask, Mario Kart and DK64 are going for € 25 euro's each here on eBay). And for me they are all in good condition, not mint but good enough. I think that by resizing of the picture it looks a bit more rough.
Sta fox had the rumble pack and DK64 had it's expansion pack.

For now i'm going to get an stepdown converter, my converter for my PAL N64 doesn't work with Go Go Troublemaker and Majora's Mask :(
