Coudln't find a suitable subject for this thread. Hope it was good enough. As usual, I was dragging ass this morning, so I hopped in a cab to make the trek to work a bit easier on myself. As I'm going, the taxi driver for a change is listening to InterFM - an English radio station. It's got all the things you hate about radio in the US - the promos, the dumb commercials, and the goofy DJ.

Anyways, I start to key in as he's talking about "retro arcade games, which people are now collecting." He went on to say how they can get quite expensive, and are considered "cool and shiek" (yeah, I know).

Fluff
Anyways, he's got some broad in there, and he's playing music from some classic games, and asking her to name them. She missed Pac-Man (thought it was Mario brothers) but guessed Donkey Kong and Space Invaders correctly. She talked about the one time she played a video game when she was 5. The DJ made some stupid crack that it was a slot machine in vegas.

The Strange Part
The DJ then proceeded to say, "20 years ago these games were cutting edge technlogoy, but now you can download them onto your computer in about 3 seconds.(whoompf -- actually made the noise himself). Email me at (insert email) and I'll send you a link where you can download these games." WTF?! I emailed him, with what I think was the right email address, but got no reply. I guess his boss busted his balls. I play poker w/ one of the higher ups of the company (one of the managers I think) -- I should ask him about it.

How hard is it to really find roms? You just search for a system then roms and you find all these sites that don't work.

There's two sites that work almost all the time, and they have a huge selection. Other than that, IRC and Bit Torrent. It's not that hard if you do some research.... I just thought it was weird that this guy would not only announce it on the radio, but he'd offer to tell people in an email.
