Perhaps I'm horribly, painfully out of the loop, but what the hell is so NEATO-KEEN about these damned G-Mail accounts?

If someone could give me a brief explanation, I'd be rather grateful. Not enough to give away something like a Vectrex ( ??? ), but grateful nonetheless.

1Gb storage (no more deleting emails) coupled with the geek-cool for being there before the general public and having the chance to secure an early username before they all get taken and you have to be justanotherschmuk12579@gmail.com.
But still, a Vectrex? X_x That's frickin' nuts

Whoopty-doo. That's not worth giving my ratty-ass Game Boy Color away for, let alone a Vec. Some people... x_x

Doesn't Gmail also scan your mail content and set up a side bar full of links and ads specfically tailored to your interests...

ie... Spam.

I don't pay for ads. I get enough of them already.

So does every other major email server and lots of websites we visit on an everyday basis. Ebay will remember your searches and then have a bar with "items you may like" at the bottom of your page. The only difference between gmail and everyone else is Google was up front about it. I think it's silly that people jumped on Google for this.

I get too much ebay junk mail as well. :P

And umm... no my free bellsouth mail account accessed through outlook does not have ads. And neither does my boyfriend's equally free msn account.
