Need help w/ my external famicom --> NES adaptor project

I need help with a grand (well it is to me) project that involves creating a device that lets me play famicom games of any size on toaster NES system.

I have most of the parts needed but i have run into a problem with finding the final piece to this monster.

I need a (computer) cable that runs at least 2 feet in length and has 60 wires or pins in it. My intent is to somehow bodge this cable onto some 60 to 72 pin converters.

If this idea is impossible, any advice or tips would be helpful.

I have run out of ideas on how to complete this project :(

I'm thinking what you need, would be a ribbon cable, and such a beast would be easily found in electronic supply stores. Such as in the link below:

Incidentally I'm just going to mount a pair of 72-pin and 60-pin connectors parallel in my NES deck and go with that.

So a 60 wire ribbon cable does exsist....I suppose i should look harder on the net next time.

I assume that this ribbon cable has very small wires inside...which would make soldering it a very hard ordeal.

Or is that ribbon cable larger than i am thinking?

.05 pitch, standard diameter. Just look at any ribbon cable lurking in your computer and you'll get the idear. Durdy dur.

Well i have a couple of those adaptors (those are the two i want to wire together) howeve,r i have a Fami game that will not fit inside a toaster NES

The game at the very top (http://members.aol.com/piku94/famigames2.jpg). Its a double wide fami game that accepts a smaller cartridge in the back.

The idea would be to have a standard NES cart with an adaptor inside go into the NES then have the wire run out the back of the cart into a small, external stand that contains an adaptor for the Fami games to plug into. [/url]
