Aside from now having a TON of games in my "My eBay" section being watched, I have a problem with some games.

My copy of MLB Baseball quits playing during use. The screen just goes black, and I have to re-start the machine to get it wo work again, and it starts over.

My copy of Night Stalker doesn't do anything. Black screen and that is all.

So far my Auto Racing, Space Armada, and Poker and Black Jack seem to be fine, playing with no problems at all.

Does this sound like a problem with the games themselves, or could my machine be kicking it? It would seem to be if it were the machine, then I would be getting one consistent problem.

Any advice or expertise to share?

Thanks gobs!

This often happens to me with dirty games or a dirty set of contacts in the system....hmmmm...if not, maybe something is overheating?

Could be heat. If so, the upper left corner of the system would be quite hot. Extra heat shields can be installed near the internal power supply.

Could very well be dirty carts, or cart slot. Clean the carts with Q-tip and isopropanol. The cart slot can be CAREFULLY cleaned with compressed air, or very fine grit sandpaper, and a credit card, and then compressed air.

The power switch could be corroded inside, causing uneven power. the switch can be disassembled, it's contacts cleaned, and re-assembled. That's kinda tricky though.

Welcome to the world of 20+ year old electronics. It is worth it. :)

Well, I don't think it is heat, since the game shut-off almost as soon as I turned the machine on. If it heat up that fast, then I am sending it on to the war department. LOL

I will try cleaning the carts. I used the canned air all over the machine and carts before inserting them. My wife even cleaned them off before she put one on! Nice to see her choosing to care for them right away also. :)

I will probably pop the machine apart to check for any dust and such. I had it opened a few years ago to see what was rattling around in it. For some reason there were some pieces of dog food in it. Odd what can happen to things after so many years. I have no idea how those may have found their way into it! LOL

Thanks for the advice so far!
