I just finished a very satisfying game of Super Mario Bros. 2 on the SNES. For some reason, I just adore this version of the game. Of the many new features on this game, there's a tally that keeps track of which characters you use throughout the game, and it's displayed once you beat the game.

In most cases, Toadstool is my biggest contributor toward finishing the game. I tend to use Princess and Mario at about the same rate. I seldom use Luigi for anything other than to reach high up places. So Toad is usually my workhorse.

Of Mario, Luigi, Princess, and Toadstool, who do you find yourself using the most in Super Mario Bros. 2?

I use Toad as well. He's my fungus of burden. If I decide to use the warp in the Ice world (level 4-2?) I'll use Princess to float from whale to whale and then to the pot to warp.

I play Super Mario Bros. II with everyone. First Mario, then Luigi, then Toad, and Princess..in that order. Everyone their advantages. But if I had to choose one person, it would be "Itsa me MARIOO!!!!!!!". LOL

I've always used Luigi almost exclusively... even in the sand levels. i like being able to jump high. now i say "almost exclusively" because on the last level i use Princess. she comes in handy... floating over wart and douching him in the back of the head.

Most of the time I use Princess straight through without changing.

Once in a while (not very often), I'll use Luigi, just because it looks so unbelieveably silly when he jumps.

I use the Princess. Without fail, and I never change. Maybe I'll go back and play again with the other characters.

Great, there goes my weekend. :D

Oh, and I only play the NES version. The SNES one just doesn't feel "right" to me.

I normally use Toad he's just so cool. When I'm not using him though I mainly use Luigi I hardly ever use Mario or the princess.

Same here LOL

The Princess' ability to hover makes her heads and tails above the rest IMHO

Princess almost exclusively. It's nice to be able to pinpoint your landings in that game, makes it a lot easier. Occasionally I'll use Luigi but those are my only two in that game.

My choice has to be Princess Toadstool. Peach has the power of limited flight, an ability that trumps all the others. Sure, Luigi's got a really high jump, but it's hard to control... it looks and feels as though he's dogpaddling through the sky.

Princess and Toad. Princess gets about 80% Toad used about 20% for stages where I want to pick up stuff fast.

Princess.

Back in the Game Genie days, I'd use Princess all the time.

Now-a-days it depends on my mood. But it's still mainly Princess. The only real time I use Luigi is in 5-3 to get to the World 7 warp. But then it's back to Princess. For one reason and one only. SHE FLOATS!

In the GG days, I would use the "Float longer" code to go across entire levels at once. CHEATER! Also, it was easier to float over Wart to get behind him. Because as everyone knows, the only way to beat Wart is to get behind him where he can't hurt you and throw it in. (Kinda strange angle there, but if it works...) Easier than trying to go in from the front.

I almost never use Mario. He just has no abilities! Who wants him? Toad maybe if I know I'll need to pick or dig fast. Like in the digging sand levels. But then back to Princess.

ditto, I've stood by Luigi for the most part for over a decade, why change now ;)

Mostly Luigi, but there were a few levels I'd pick Toadstool because her float gave you some massive shortcuts (Like 4-2).

The Princess float is the best. I could do soo much with it.

I did occasionaly switch to Luigi sometimes for that extra jump, and switch to Toad for a level or two to pull up a lot of coins.

Overall I use the Princess 90% of the time.

Thanks for making me pull the game out.

I still don't like this game.

But I have now beaten it three times (had to test out the cart I got in a trade :) ) using ONLY Toad.

He moves at the speed I am comfortable at...eveyone else takes too long to pull the junk out of the ground.

Princess all the way! Floating rules! I almost never use anyone else. Next time I play it I'll try everyone.

toad has the tightest control, and he can harvest coins like a mofo

I usually try to make it a point to change characters every level... but I use Toad for most of the "real" work. There are a few levels that I almost always use Princess for just for her floating ability (I find it really useful in that ice level with the birds flying at you).

I never found Mario to be terribly useful in this game, since he has no real strengths at all.
