I'm looking for a little help here. I'm making a... Well, let's just call it a SuperGun. And what I'm looking for is the absolute cheapest way to do the RGB/NTSC conversion. I searched through the supergun threads on the board, and the one that seems most promising to me is the PS2 DVD recording cable hack in Captain Wrong's journal, but he apparently had a hard time finding one to hack himself and ordered it from someone (emailed that person for a price). The rest seem to run between 1-2 hundred bucks * sigh*. So do you guys have any suggestions on how to do this conversion in a cost effective manner?

What about the jrok encoder?

For something really cost effective, remove the CXA1645 out of a PSX and use it to create an encoder circuit. Some assembly required.

(edit: wrong part#)

I sent an e-mail for a price, he doesn't list the price on his site.

Any schematics or tutorials floating around that you could point me to?

Here's (http://www.gamesx.com/rgbadd/cxa1645.pdf) the schematic for CXA1645, which can also be found in PlayStations. It's good for S-Video, too.

also might want to consider the R2N encoder. Works great, but i dont have a jrok to compare it to

I used the AD724 from Analog Devices for my converter:

Data Sheet:

The datasheet tells you eveything you need to know to wire it up.
