Game & Watch question

Hey all, I bought a Game and Watch Donkey Kong at a toy show the other day and the back for the battery compartment is missing. I have tried putting masking tape on it to hold the batteries in but that only works for a little while. Has this ever happened to anyone? What's a good trick to fix it?

Just put a small piece of cardboard in there to hold the batteries in, then tape that down. Should work better than just tape alone..
