View Full Version : N64 hunters...might be time to check your local Blockbuster

Got sucked into a Blockbuster this week by the big signs (seems to be all the BBs in Milwaukee) that say they are now buying used games as well as DVDs. They didn't have any trade-ins for sale yet, and sadly it seems they will only be taking in disc format games PS1 and newer.

But on the positive side it seems that my local BBs are starting to finally sell off the last block of N64 rentals they have been holding on to for so long. Of about a dozen I stopped at, 3 hadn't started selling the rest of their rental's yet, 3 didn't have any left, and 6 had a number of titles for sale, with the some still for rent.

Most of the ones for sale I already had, but fortunately for me, one BB had 2 titles I have been lusting after. Hydro Thunder and Starcraft 64, both marked $9.99 and both box and cart only (luckily I recently picked up a HT manual!). With the by 1 get 50% off a 2nd special, both cost me only $15...score!

If you have some Blockbusters in your area that have been tenaciously holding on to those last N64 rentals, this may be a good time to make a call or stop in...good luck!

yeah, my blockbuster has had some old boxed n64 games sitting around for EVER, but they're in pretty shoddy shape and I think it's very common titles. I was at another rental store a while back and they had about 30 boxed snes games....battletoads in battlemaniacs, knights of the round, yoshi's island, wario woods, pockey & rockey....I was totally psyched ready to buy em all out and they're like "those aren't for sale, they're rentals."

AHHHH...who knows how long they've been sitting on the shelf untouched. I should go back and try to buy em again ;).

Picked up Super Smash Bros, and Mega Man 64, yesterday. ssb has a box, but no label, mega just a cart, Wish I saw the thread sooner, the copy of Paper Mario I have been eyeing in the rental section was allready gone.

At a video store near me, they still have nes, snes, and genesis games for rent. They are also 5 bucks to buy and come with the box. They have sold many of the games before they had the 5 dollar sign. No good games left though, well worth money ones, I'll make an offer to the owner sometime.

Yup, I had been stopping into my Local BB once a week and then poof! All the N64 games are gone, I was told that they were sent to another store.

I stopped by my local BB yesterday and got Paper Mario boxed (no instructions )for $20, and Super Mario 64 loose for $5. The label has a rip in it but it was only $5 so I can't complain too much.

Blockbuster's around here have been doing this for about the past year. I haven't found anything good yet, because everything I find is in complete SHIT condition!!

I've been doing this for over a year. I've picked up more than a third of the N64 library, all complete, none over $13 and most for around $6. I've also picked up a lot of the titles for $5-7 and then ebayed them for $20 each. The last one I bought for $5 and sold for $63.

I picked up an assload of the good SNES games when they were selling those off, but the N64 ones (and all systems now) that they sell are usually crudded up with those stupid blockbuster labels. I F***ing hate that! And even worse, for the CD based games, you cant remove the sticker because the magnetics of it will ruin the data on the disc!

I would have picked up RE2 for GC for 10 bucks, but not with that label on it!
