View Full Version : Funny Toys R Us story (w/ bonus!!!)
Stopped there yesterday between errands. They had a whole table set up w/ certain games (3 rows of Dreamcast!) for a 2-for-1 deal (you had to pay the higher price.) As I flipped through them I noticed one wrong move & they'd end up on the floor. They had a haphazard cardboard border around the table but the front was loose & sagging. Sure enough, my movement caused about a dozen games to fall. The clerk called out "Forget about it- it happens all the time." I said I'd at least pick them up & suggested a large shallow bin, but I guess he'd finally had enough- he got 2 shopping carts & dumped ALL the games into them!
Glad I got there when I did- I didnt want to dig through all those games (Dreamcast on the bottom!)
BTW, I got (Dreamcast):
Jedi Power Battles $20 (was $40)
Sega Marine Fishing (free, was $10)
Q*Bert ($10)
World Series Baseball 2K1 (free, was $5)

Nice story. Man, the only thing that's on sale at my toys r us for the dreamcast is a bunch of baseball 2k1's. And the only n64 games are about 30 wrestlemania 2000's. The wrestlemania game is good, but already have it.

Just to let people know, I just got back from my local TRU and they had all red tagged games on sale 2 for the price of 1. They too had a table and a bin of stuff set up by the checkout, but the sale applied to every game in the store with a red price sticker on it. I got Rygar and VF4 for $30. Not too bad for some games I wanted to get anyway.

As another note, in addition to the BOGOF deal on the Red Tagged games, all the PSone and PS2 value games that were previously BOGOF are now $7.99 each. There are some GREAT games in there for $7.99.

Which TRU in Twin Cities did you go to? The closest one from Oakdale is Woodbury but they didn't have Jedi Power Batle when I went there last time, I had to get this game from Tom at DCH. But Woodbury store has a few uncommon and fun games like Outrigger, Reel Fishing, check them out.
My local Rochester TRU didn't have DC and N64 ames tagged yet but certain XB, PS2, and GC games have buy one get one free deal, yes, you pay the more expensive of the 2, I'll get back there and check their DC games again for deals, 15 more new games to complete my DC collection.

Those are some good prices.
All the TRU's here in Edmonton are still selling their PS1 stuff for its original retail value $49.99 - $69.99 Canadian. Needless to say they have lots of games left...
Anyone Looking for 1997-1999 sports games they can hook you up for a mere $50.00 each. :D
@vincewy: Yeah, I hit the Woodbury store- next closest is Maplewood. I got the last SW: JPB- sorry! Is it hard to find? I also had a hard time deciding between Reel Fishing: Wild & Sega Marine Fishing, that I asked the clerk if he'd tried either before. I got SMF, as I got RF for PS1 not long ago. They're both a blast- I really got into SMF last night, & I have all next week off to play!
I may go back soon for Toy Commander & another title TBD- but I'm not turned on about digging to the bottom of the shopping carts.

Between SMF and Reel Fishin, SMF hands down, but with the number of Reel Fishing they have and discount, you might want to consider getting some to sell online and/or use them to trade for other games.
However, try to get the game Outtrigger if they still have it, I've not seen this game (most stores got very few at release, if none) other than ShopKo in Rochester (where I work) and TRU Woodbury, it's the best non-violent gun game for DC.
Besides Woodbury TRU, yes, check TRU by Maplewood Mall and Southtown in Bloomington. Plus High Score (http://www.hiscoregames.com) in Stillwater has quite a few if you're into DC, I traded in many sealed games because there're cracks on the case, if thay doesn't matter to you, there's a lot for you to pick.

Oddly enough my TRU was selling buy 1 get 1 free. I bought Unreal Tournament (5.99) and got Space Channel 5 for free (normally 4.98). My store is in Brea, CA. Anybody else in CA been to a TRU lately...I'm wondering if I have to visit Geffrey in other cities tomorow.

Well, looks like besides those yellow tag games, certain PS2, PS1 games are on sale for $7.99.
My Rochester TRU had Harvest Moon, Super Bust-A-Move 1 and 2, Tokyo Xtreme Racer Zero under this bin, there're other niche, quirky tiles like Ants Racing, Metropolitama, Mojo, Parrapa 2.
Seems like they want to clear out some games fast.
