A SUPER NES CHRISTMAS STORY

Christmas season of 1993. I was happily enjoying school and the days playing my NES which I had gotten earlier in 1989, while my two close friends had gotten Super NES’ in recent Christmas seasons. Going over their houses I was amazed at the increase in the graphic and the sound quality and wanted to get one myself. Working on my Christmas list that year, I put a Super NES on the list with a handful of game and left it on my desk in my room for my mother to take that weekend while I was out with my father.

Coming home the following Sunday, the list was still there but written on it in a big ugly red marker was “No way buster.” I was pretty crushed about it, and my father was a bit puzzled too. I moved on to fixing up my list and I added Nintendo’s newest game system with a few games once again. Once I again I was yelled at for wanting it, to the point of parents telling me that I had a game system and that was enough.

Discouraged the few weeks before Christmas sailed on. We bought our Christmas tree and trimmed it, life and school went on for me till Christmas break till the following year. Christmas came like it usually did on the 25th of December and after breakfast my family and I began opening our gifts. I opened all of mine except for a strange package on the far side of the tree, with smaller packages on it. I opened this mysterious package to find that it was a game and system holder for a Super Nintendo! My parents had gotten me one and tricked me to throw me off course! I had received various games for it including Super Mario World, Madden ‘94 and the horrid Spider-Man & X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge. I didn’t care, I was happy, thanked my parents a lot, and had a system to compete and borrow games with my friends again.
