stopped by my local blockbuster yesterday to look for a cheap PS2 or Xbox game for a quickie buy since they have the buy one get another 50% off offer
I looked though the games for something around 10 bucks mostly PS2 games since I got yet ANOTHER PS2 O_O cuase I gotta play the MGS3 when it comes out anyway I picked up Galerians:Ash right away despite the not so great reviews I still liked the PSone version too
I looked around and of course they had Tomb Raider:the angel of darkness marked all the way down to $6.99 so I thought what the hell it cant be THAT BAD right? so I got both games for under 12 bucks
heres my reviews of these two "bargain ben" titles:
first Galerians Ash: I held of purchasing this game since Gameinformer gave it a mid range score at best. Now I wish I hadnt done that becuase Im really enjoying the game so far the grapchics above average and the Gameplay has been much improved over the original. I like the storyline also especially since it continues what the first hinted at.
of course it does have its bad elements long empty corridors etc but so far I have found very few big negatives. all in all well worth the whole 8 bucks I spent on the game ;)
Now for Tomb Raider
Im sure we are all very aware of the (in)famous PS2 version but let me begin by stating that I have never been a big TR fan but at a cost of under 4 bucks for a practically new game case, instructions and all I swallowed my pride and picked it up as the second 50% of game
Little did I know how suprised I would be by the game I mean its actually a good game certainly not even close to great by any means but certainly not the TERRIBLE POS that most reviewers on the net and in the mags would have us think.
sure it does have control issues but I actually found it much easier to control than any of the old TR even though I only played the first two and the DC version of chronicles.
I also remember reading a review that compared the graphics to the Dreamcast port of Chronicles I personally believe this to be WAY OF THE MARK on the PS2 TR I have the DC version of TR:Chronicles and AOD looks much better than that slightly cleaned up PSone port and this is coming from a once Tomb Raider hater LOL
Its really ironic (and kinda sad) that I pass on so many games based on reviews from the net and the magazines
I have vowed to no longer base my game purchases purely on said reviews thank you and good night!
I hope this little post didnt put everyone to sleep LOL
