Yes, thanks to the new Xbox package (system + JSRF and Sega GT) I'm seriously considering getting one of these. Unfortunately, I'm clueless as to what games to get, besides HALO, Tony Hawk 2X, and Sega's Xbox games. Xbox Live isn't really a factor, seeing as I have a dialup connection.....

So tell me, in the form of a list of games, why I should get an Xbox.

Splinter Cell
Panzer Dragoon Orta (coming soon - demo looks good)
Mech Assault (though better Live)
Unreal C. (though better Live)
the best versions of all sports games
amped II (amped for now)
MGS2: Substance
Munch's Oddesey (great if you like offbeat stuff)

Some other reasons - no memory cards (I just got the Cube and though I love it, those damn things really annoy me), customized soundtracks (adds so much to driving and snowboarding games), and superior versions of most multi-port games.

Also, you may have dial-up now but chances are long before the death of this system broadband will be standard and you will in fact have it. Just something to think about.

Detailed lush textures that don't pixellate when you get close. S-controller very comfy.

NO MORE MEMORY CARDS! Fast loading.

Sega GT and JSRF now come with it.

Buy the DVD remote and get a rebate for the cost.

Buy 2 full price new ($50) games and get a $50 rebate when you buy the system, too.

Those are limited offers. Basically you get an Xbox with DVD remote and 4 games for $250.

Rebates at Funco/Gamestop and maybe Babbages.

Of course this doesn't even include the argument for Xbox live, which could be pretty good.

Halo
Halo
Halo

I become a bigger and bigger fan of this game the more I play it. I'm only on Level 7 right now (perhaps close to the end of it but I can't be sure) and it's easily one of my top three games of all time. It has been since Level 1. The deeper you get into it the more you appreciate it. And it's got replay value - I've played the multiplayer scenario with a friend (and my wife) three times and I'm still not sick of the first two levels (haven't gotten any deeper with anybody else yet).

If you like sports games, the hard drive is a *huge* bonus. No worrying about filling up memory cards with massive save files. I've got one WSB season and two NHL season saved on my drive (plus my other games and some CDs of course) and tonnes of space left. Madden 2002 forced me into buying a second PS2 memory card.

World Series Baseball is probably the best baseball game I've ever played.

Munch's Oddysee is not only cheap it's damn entertaining.

Gotham Street Racing is just arcadey enough to be fun but not too arcadey. I like it better than GT3. And you can copy your own CDs to the hard drive and listen to them - easily one of the coolest little extras of the Xbox. There's *nothing* like racing to Fu Manchu...

I haven't had a chance to actually play Morrowind yet but I've heard enough good things about it to purchase it.

To top it off, you don't need to spend any extra coin on a multitap - four player Halo!

The House of the Dead 3 !!!! The REAL lighgun game. Also includes a picture perfect port of HotD2.

Balders Gate Dark Alliance. I don't know about this game on other systems, but the Xbox version is beautiful and FAST. Kick ass....

Dead or ALive 3. Speed and Beauty. Can't beat it.

The BEST version of Gauntlet Dark Legacy :-)

Rallisport, fast and fun. Looks oh-so-good.

If you have time and patience and love hardcore RPG minus the spikey hair, Morrowind.

I guess I don't have to repeat Halo ;-) ...............

The built in harddrive is a huge plus. Dead or Alive 3 can be upgraded from an official xbox magazine dvd and adds new costumes and videos. Thats a 1st for console gaming.

The pack in games are really cool. I wasn't a big fan of Jet Grind Radio on the DC but JSRF plays better IMO. Sega GT 2002 SPANKS the Gran Turismo series. Not only getting the best looking ports (I haven't played many yet, but they do look great) the original games are turning out to be a surprise. I read that Circus Maximus was just a hard game-hard to the point as to not being fun. I dunno, rented it and had a blast (maybe it was the original controller back when the game was released that was the problem, plays alright with the Type S). Add to that the fact that it looks as though Sega has adopted the X-Box as its primary home and now with Rare in the Redmond rafters, it's looking like you can't go wrong.

I just got one and I bought TJE 3 (camera problems) and Shenmue (I am taking Friday off to start playing it). I also ordered Steel Batalion. I don't know how I talked my wife intoit, but it will be on it's way when they funish it up. I can't wait.

I am also going to get Oddworld (cheap) and House of the Dead 3 when I get a gun.

Yes. I have that one. You think Soul Caliber is better. I don't.

Do you base your opinion on the system the game plays on, or the game itself?

Not that your opinion means one little thing to me at all.

I happen to like Soul Caliber very much. DOA3 inferior? Not in my opinion. DOA3 looks better plays faster and is more fun. And the survival mode is super fun.

Also, they are both just as easy to beat.

i have nothing against the xbox. in fact ill probably get one within the next few months. the dead or alive games on any system are just weak overall. all eye candy, no substance. i dont really care how great the graphics are, that doesnt really matter to me. the tekken series, virtua fighter series, and soul blade/soul calibur series are all better fighting games, imo. they may not look as good as DOA3, but they sure as hell play alot better.
