Now that I have gently withdrawn the goodies I wanted (see the weekly finds thread for the full haul), I thought I would alert the local collecting community to a pretty good sale going on at the moment. Both Milwaukee Video Game Exchanges (on S. 27th St. and at the Beloit/Hwy. 100 intersection) are taking 50% off all non-current video games (no PS2, GC, Xbox or GBA discounted). The only hook is that you have to buy at least 3 games to get the discount, but I didn’t find that to be too much of a hurdle. ;)

If you haven’t been there before, they have a small amount of 2600, 5200 & SMS games…with a better selection of NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, SegaCD, Saturn, DC & PS1 games. A higher than usual percentage of their games come with books, but still ask if you’re not sure. The weekly finds thread will give you an idea of what the prices are like as well...definitely worth a trip if you're in the area. (Some people have even been known to find a Starfox Weekend cart there :D )

Good Luck,
Rich

Rich, thanks for the tip. I went there today to pick up a few games that I have wanted for awhile but the price was too high. With this sale the prices were just right. Do you know how long this sale is going to last? I am going to have to hit up the other store as well. Anyway, thanks again.

GWH, thanks for the information! Finally I had some time today, and I went to one of the stores. I'm not systematically collecting, I'm just a crazy player, but even I found games I wanted for very reasonable prices with the discount deal.

All complete:
Wipeout XL (PS1) 4.00
Wipeout 3 (PS1) 4.00
Donkey Kong 64, in great shape, 8.00
Elemental Gimmick Gear (DC) 4.00

Finally I can put my guide for DK64 I bought years ago to good use. :)

Well, the signs are still up, but most of the good stuff seems to have been plucked from the shelves at the Hwy. 100 store and likely has at the 27th St. store as well. I stopped in yesterday to pick up some more cheap Genny sports titles, and as I was checking out, I noticed a box full of games behind the counter.

Suspecting the worst, but playing dumb, I asked, "Are those games going to be put out for sale?" And the kid says, "No...those are gonna get Ebayed." On top of the pile I could see the $70 cart-only Chrono Trigger that would have been $35, and the $50 Loose FFII that would have been $25. Still not great deals, but it seems a few days after the sale started, they decided to pull all of the high-priced games and sell them on Ebay.

Still lots of good deals on mid and low priced games, but much of the goodies are gone it seems...oh well.

P.S. Sneaky!?...hey Collector, I posted about this sale as soon as I got home.... (home after carefully combing through both stores, that is :D ) There still may be some decent stuff there though if you decide to go.

I'm probably too late, but thanks for the info anyway.

i went to both stores and bought all the complete nes games that they had that i didn't already have. i think 8 in total. donkey kong classics for 10, in good condition and complete isn't too bad.

on another note, have you ever noticed that any time you go into the stores the kids working there are ALWAYS on the phone no matter what, and will not even hang up or put the phone down while checking you out. at the hwy 100 one, the kid was even also on the computer, talking very very loudly about magic cards or something else just as dorky, and totally ignoring everyone in the store. there was even people standing at the counter waiting to buy stuff and he didn't notice.
