Meant to talk about this when it happened, but about a couple of weeks ago, local police raided the two GameXchanges here in Springfield, Mo after getting some reports of them taking in stolen merchandise, well afte rsome undercover work, they ended up arresting 6 employees, the main thing was not having paperwork on file for items in question. You must have paperwork on file for 30 days on all items (games, movies, music, etc sold). I am assuming this had to do more with systems and newer system games. The stores are still open, but I havent been in since the story broke. ITs a damn shame if they clse because of it, thats where I find alot of my pre psx stuff.

Whoops! Probably shoulda looked into the legel issue side of running their business, but ya know, it's just easier to buy a shitload of brand new games some guy brings in. Heh.

The one here is pretty good about not getting stolen merchandise.
You have to show your ID/Drivers License when you sell stuff
They dont buy merchandise that is still in the package/shrink wrapped.
And when you check out your reciept has a place where you sign it saying that the merchandise you sold isnt stolen (secured by illegal means),
I talk to the manager of the place regularly and he is VERY adamant that the store remain a family friendly place and not littered with thugs hovering over counters.

I was definitly suprised when I heard it as they have always been a decent place (clean, well run, friendly). BUt it must have been managers and a few rogue employees, as I said the owner wasn't arrested or charged with any actual crimes. So hopefully that will solve the problem that was there. The thing is they never had a ton of current gen systems or games, just enough ya know, and usually older releases. Nothing to high dollar as far as old stuff either, just a fair amount. But who knows.

I was in Springfield just this weekend & all I could find was an EB & Gamestop. I didn't see GameXchange anywhere! I could've stocked up on some hot PS2s.

Well if all you found was eb and gamestop you missed out. There is GameXchange on Campbell and on Glenstone, plus Caveman on glenstone across from battlefield mall and the new caveman location on kansas.

A Springfield GameXchange store was the setting of my most awkward gamestore moment:
Two summers ago I visited one of those GameXchange stores while I was in Springfield for a family reunion.
During my entire stay in the store, the employee working there and his skank girlfriend were making out near the register while I shopped.
He seemed rather annoyed when I approached them to pay for my Super Smash TV cart. ;)

Vintage Stock/Caveman has become one of the better places to find things in Springfield though I havne't been there in awhile. I always give them a few months before I make the trip back there to "restock" their old games :D

I'll have to check those out next time I go. I've never heard of Caveman, so I probably drove right past it & didn't even know what it was.
What was going on in Springfield this weekend (besides Memorial Day)? I went to 6 hotels & couldn't find a place to stay. I finally went to Branson (yee-haw!) and found a place.
I should've made reservations...
