View Full Version : Worth it for buying for the purpose of selling?

I just got to Washington for the summer, and the very first place I go for the purpose of game shopping (unless you want to count Fred Meyer, where I looked but didn't buy anything like always) I find an awesome deal. I noticed a movie rental place with liquidation sale signs, so later I go and I find Mountain Bike Rally for SNES complete and in very good condition for $3.99. O_O I instantly snap that one up, of course, but I'm going back for more stuff tomorrow. I'm planning to basically clean them out of all their complete Sega CD games (all are .99 or 1.99, so I can't go wrong), even though I don't even have a Sega CD yet (nor do I have a Genesis that can hook up to a Sega CD with me for the summer :P ). But to get to my question... They have A TON of N64 games, but the prices aren't so hot. 9.99 for the complete ones, and 4.99 for the loose ones. The only ones that seem like a particularly good deal to me are Dr. Mario and Mario Tennis 64. They have two copies of Mario Tennis 64, though, and I just can't decide if at 9.99 each it's worth it to buy both and sell the worse one on eBay (one has a slightly faded box, so that would be the one to go). So someone throw me some input before I head there again. o_O I intend on selling some other stuff regardless, so it wouldn't be a bother, but can I really get any profit?

At $10 a piece for complete N64 stuff, I'd be all over that! Most N64 games I see used nowadays are loose, and most places say specifically that the boxes are not included. Unless they're the "super-commons" of the N64 collection (Perfect Dark, Conker, Goldeneye, etc.), I'd jump. (Five bucks a piece for loose ones isn't too bad, either, assuming they're in good shape without stickers and crap.)

Oh yeah - I might be interested in Sega CD stuff, too - just please don't mark it up a bunch, as I'm basically poor. :) Could be time for one of those "video store buyouts" I've read about on here recently... :P

I'd buy "Final Fight CD" if they have it. :D

Now this just might be locally, but anything on N64 and with "Mario" in the title was usually in high demand & hard to keep in stock.

Hehe, I'm not planning on selling any of the Sega CD games. :P My Sega CD collection is at zilcho right now (well, my boyfriend did get Afterburner 3 there), so none of them will be doubles for me. There's nothing too spectacular there (no Lunar or anything like that), but they do have a bunch of stuff like Ecco, Mortal Kombat, Chuck Rock, Wonderdog, Sewer Shark, a bunch of licensed games (Hook, Cliffhanger, Bram Stoker's Dracula, one of the Batman games, Terminator), etc. Probably the most notable is that weird Jaguar game, which has a somewhat high rarity (although I noticed it sells for practically nothing on eBay). Too bad all the cardboard box Sega CD games are pretty squished. :/

n64 game's are still pretty expensive as a whole. I just picked up a loose Diddy Kong Racing for $3 at a garage sale and double checked the DP guide when I got home. R1 at something like $12. And you've got to think any system with card board based packaging is tougher to get a hold of complete. I'd pick and choose some game you'd think are more valuable and sell them off.

Where are you in Washington? Just curious.

On a side note, there have been five tornados there this year. I think in the 20 + years I lived there, I recall hearing about two or three. A few years ago, one went through my aunts back yard as a matter of fact.

In Tacoma. I've been hearing about those tornados too, very unusual for this area. Usually you only gotta watch out for the earthquakes. :P

You are quite lucky. I've been looking to expand my sega cd collection for a little while now =\. Would love to find a score like that. Even though they are common games most of em sound like they're at least decent ones.

Mario Tennis is a great game, whether you are playing by yourself, or with 3 other people. I'm not sure its worth getting to resell, but its definitely worth getting to keep and play.

I'm definitely going to keep one. :) I've been wanting to pick up more N64 Mario games, but the demand for everything "Mario" keeps them all way too pricey. I'm looking forward to finally giving Dr. Mario 64 (love the NES one) and Mario Tennis 64 a try.

Tacoma huh? I hope not in the Hill Top area. @_@ My aunt lives in Buckley... not too far from there.

I only remember feeling three earthquakes, but they were all centered far from where we lived. I'm sure glad I moved from such a tornado magnet like Washington State, to a much safer Missouri! LOL ;)

Haha, definitely not Hill Top. My family isn't crazy. :P I'm in southeast Tacoma just BARELY out of Puyallup. And as for the earthquakes, the last big one (in 2001, I think?) made a huge mess out of my game collection. I had lots of stacks that toppled over so the floor was covered in carts and cases. >_<

2001 sounds about right. I lived in Marysville about an hour North. We just got the rolling effect and some stuff fell over at the folks house but that's it. My step dads building was closed for about a week because of it. He worked in down town Seattle at the time.

Oh well... enough of my hi-jacking. Congrats on the find and have a nice time in Puyallup. That's Pew-al-up. ;)
