Hi All,
I am new to the board as of last week but am glad to have found this web site.
Anyway, in the past few weeks I have purchased 2 intellivisions and have not been able to get a video signal out of either of them. When I start them up the screen goes green and then turns black.
I am using a rf-coaxial converter and connecting it to a rear projection TV. Channel 3. Is there something different i need to be doing to these units or am I just having bad luck getting an intellivision that works?
Thanks!

Make surethey are connected properly. Also, it could probably be the games. Just give them a blow and insert them. If that doesn't work, then maybe it'z the systems themselves.

Well I tried it with and without a game, don't you still get a welcome message if you don't have a cartridge in the system?
Thanks

My Intellivision, that was just revived last week, does not give me a welcome screen, but does just give a black screen until the game in inserted.

Clean the carts contacts with q-tips and isoprpanol. Then blow out the cartridge slot with compressed air.
Working Inty's are getting harder and harder to find. Some are 25 years old! Older than many members here! LOL

I have an old video game repair book that says to take the controllers apart and clean everything. Tiny pieces of the circuit trace material flake off and short out the controller which makes the system not start up properly. I have fixed a few this way. Cleaning the cartridges and cartridge port should be your first step though.
Thanks, y-bot

Ha, I still got a few years on these units. I was 12 when I got my first intellivision for xmas. My parents had to go back to the store the day after xmas and exchange it, though because it didn't work even back then...
Thanks for the tips, though. I will give that a shot.

Hmm...I'd go with what everyone else has said. Just give the carts a good clean, maybe a little bit to the cartridge slot as well and retry it. I've never seen a welcome screen on mine. Bought it yesterday for 3 bucks and it will start up games just fine and works perfectly but I've only seen the screen go black then the game come up.
Maybe I should try it without a game inserted....

There. Is. No. Welcome. Screen. Period. Just. Game. Title. Screen.
It is unlikely the controllers. Improper controller response almost never hangs the system. The controllers may respond totally incorrectly, and the system will still start. As a matter of fact, it is more likely to autostart (go straight to gameplay screen) when the controllers are faulty.
