For me, it was...Pong. In vivid grey and white.

Pong for me too! On an old Grandstand unit with a hard-wired rifle on it. I ripped the gun off and played Cowboys with my mates - Boy I regretted it afterwards :(

My first 'Arcade' memory would be standing on a footstool to play Moon Cresta though - I absolutely loved that game...my very favourite until roadblasters came out!!

Either Donkey Kong 3, Dragon's Lair, or M.A.C.H. 3.

Either Donkey Kong 3, Dragon's Lair, or M.A.C.H. 3.Well, THAT made me feel old.

I distinctly remember playing Computer Space at the local skating rink when I was just a wee lad. How a po-dunk town in KY had one of those, I'll never know. The nearby bowling alley had a Pong machine tucked in the pool room that I used to play too. Lastly, around that same "era," I remember the local department store had a Gunfight machine at the front of the store that my brother and I used to play for hours while my folks shopped.

Arcade wise the VERY first game I played was probably NIGHT DRIVER. I remember my parents taking me to Las Vegas in 78. We stayed at the Circus Circus which had two arcades. One had older machines the other upstairs on the boardwalk had all new shiny Space Invaders about 30 of them (but each had at least 5 kids waiting for them). Other games I remember from that trip were TANK and GUNFIGHT.

Home Console Wise it was the original Odyssey or RCA STUDIO II owned by friends.

My first game on my own Home Console would have been Atari 2600 VIDEO OLYMPICS, followed by GUNFIGHT and COMBAT.

Galaga was my first and still favorite. Learning the patterns, getting the double ships or the shield...fun times! One of my local concert venues has a Galaga cab that I want to buy. Games on it are still 10 cents per play, so my friends and I will go down there and take turns in two-player mode. I love arcades.

I don't remember this, but according to my Mom I would play Pong against myself. 8-)

Man, I am gonna REALLY date myself here... The first video game I ever played was "Starship 1" at a roller rink... I think it was around 1977... *sigh* I think I will go drink some Metamucil now or something...

my very first was a pachinko machine my dad had in his gameroom

my first video game was asteroids, the local red sauce italian joint had one in the bar area and i felt like such a big kid going over there to play it. i was one of those really annoying little kids who would mash the buttons in demo mode like i was playing, and when a grown up did play i'd stand there watching them.

As a kid, the only arcades I ever got to visit were the one by my aunt's "cabin" aka trailer park, and the one in Alpena, MI, where my grandparents lived. As such, my first arcade game I THINK was the Simpsons, or the original TMNT game. I remember playing Street Fighter 2: WW when Hyper Fighting was out just because it was the only one I had on the super nintendo, and I remember thusly getting my ass beat in the game by a guy playing Guile.

I remember my first arcade was a rollerskate rink in Oshkosh WI where I grew up as a small child. I can't be sure which one was the first, because I played them all for as long as I could scam quarters from my mother. I can still hear her "I brought you hear to rollerskate not play those silly Atari's" LOL
My mm called them "Atari's" LOL

I think the first one I played was sprint. You know the black and white top down raceing game? I was probably drawn to that one first because I was a younk kid and back then, a steering wheel on an arcade machine drew small children to them like flies to a bug zapper :)

Believe it or not- Daytona USA :embarrassed:

My area is like an arcade wasteland, devoid of non-console fun. That and the fact that even the cheapest machines are still $1 AU (some $2) :o

Combat, cocktail table. My neighbor had one when they were still pretty new and I used to go over there and play it with his daughter.

My first was Battlezone. It was located in the game room of this little cabin/vacation complex on a lake somewhere in New Hampshire. My initial reason for being in there was to play Ping Pong on the giant table, but the four cabinets in the back corner soon stole my attention. I wanted to play Battlezone because of its unique looking design and "stick figure" graphics. I also thought it was a big deal that I had to stand on a milk crate to play the darn thing. While there were three other games there, I only recall Centipede. I wanted to play that one too, but the trackball was all busted up.

My first arcade game I believe was Pac-Man, as I have a VERY faint memory of playing it on a cocktail cabinet, but the first game I have a vivid memory of playing was Time Killers when I was around 9 or so, at the local water park. I don't care what anybody says, that game rocked!

I wish i knew what the very first arcade game I played was. The very first and only arcade game ive owned was Virtua Fighter 2. Sadly, I don't know what console stole my cherry. I am in my early 20's and I know that whatever system it was it certainly predates the NES. I was a wee baby when I played my first console. I am guessing it was either the Intellivsion or Colecovision.

Arcade Game: Pac-man
My first Arcade game: Space Duel in perfect condition but no picture but sounds worked so I sold it as is for $350 !!! I also own/owned several arcade games

one unique arcade game i still own is a cocktail table by nintendo its slot machines from japan ! i tried finding more information on that but never did and i only paid $5 for it at flea market it was not working so i brought it home and cleaned it up and still didnt work so i just left it in my garage for more than a year and my mom begged me to see what game was it i said its broken she said please try it so i said ok i plugged it in and it works fine LOL ! seriously it is made by Nintendo !! and how the hell it got here in california i dunno lol maybe a japanese family brought it over here LOL ...

Home system: PONG when I was 2 years old back in 1974/1975 our uncle gave it to us from atari I will have to ask my neighbor if they still have it my dad was an idiot  for selling it to them in 1979 or 1980 I'd love to see if it was a regular pong system or possibly a prototype pong system

My uncle used to work at the atari company in sunnyvale california for several years before going onto the chuck e cheese business

My first interchangeable cartridge system was Intellivision I actually wanted Coleco Vision but my dad was an idiot again but we all fell in love with the system and then 6 months later on my dad bought coleco vision for me after he saw how good it was at a store and tried it out lol ! it was back in 1982/1983 and I still remember very well what the coleco vision display set up looks like wish i could get one hell yea i am a coleco vision fan lol !

I don't remember my first arcade game.. because it was one of many Electromechanical arcade games that were around. The things I remember from when I was barely coherent were the shuffleboard bowling tables, the EM games where I shot a shark with some gun while my dad held me up, I also remember some target games.

However I DO remember when pong came out.. it was in the same restaurant as the shuffleboard bowling and was in cocktail format. I played it and lost to my big sister. I probably played it a lot more after that. I also remember that arcade game (who's name escapes me at the moment) where you shot that ship that looks like the Enterprise

Anyway, what I like to count as my FIRST videogame. The videogame I got addicted to and came right when I was coherent enough to get interested in such a thing.. was definitely Space Invaders. But I've talked about that very subject on these boards enough already :P

Dig Dug. i was about 7 or 8 i'd think, and every weekend my parents would go to this swarthy auction house on the other side of town. in the back near the entrance, there were three games: Pacman, Dig Dug, and some pinball machine with what looked to be "the devil". I remember thinking the pinball machine was cool, but ended up playing Dig Dug and Pacman most of the time.

They didn't have arcades where I grew up, so pretty much the closest thing I'd ever seen until I was maybe 10 or so was video poker. After that, the first games I played was when my aunt was dating this guy and to get in good he bought her kids like 5 cabs (ms pacman, asteroids, a pin, something else).

I'm surprised so many people remember there first arcade! I, am really trying to remember, but I'm drawing a blank.

I remember the first time I played Mortal Kombat though, got whooped and had my spine ripped out by another kid...I enjoyed it though!

I remember playing Ms. Pac Man a lot in a local restaurant, as well as Pole Position, Samurai Shodown & others I cant seem to remember at the moment.

Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition was at a local restaurant also, I sucked at that game. LOL

Either way, I have lots of arcade memories, but as for my first arcade...I can't remember. :(

I'm trying really, really, really, REALLY hard to remember, and something keeps telling me it was Space Invaders. For some reason that game has always been a special one to me, and I think that the reason is that it was the first. I can't remember playing anything before it. I got the ROM for it, and play it through MAME, and I find it amazing just how slow of a game it is, but yet just how hard it is also! LOL

the first arcade game I ever played was at age 4 at Cleghorn's house of Pizza, playing the original Super Dodge Ball by Tecnos. Gooood times had there.

The first one I ever owned however was technically Art of Fighting for the Neo Geo MVS system.

The first one I ever owned was a playchoice 10 double unit, second was a playchoice 10 single unit, thrid was a playchoice 10 countertop unit.

Yes, I do have an obsession with the PC10.

I didn't play arcade games that much as a kid. In fact, one of the reasons my mom bought me an NES was so I wouldn't ask her if I could go to the arcade. LOL

However, I had friends who had birthday parties at arcades, skating rinks, and Chuck E Cheese's, so I did get a good share of arcade goodness after that. But I'm going OT here, so...

I'm guessing my first arcade game (and probably my first game ever) was Pac-Man at a laundromat when I was 4 or 5 years old.

I can't remember what was the first arcade game I've ever played. Chances are, it was some classic game like Pac-Man. However, I do remember going to the roller skating rink with school in grade 2 and being fascinated by the Burgertime cabinet. I also used to be fascinated by the pinball machines at the bus depot in the town where my grandma lived.

The first arcade game I clearly remember playing (although it doesn't mean that it was the first one I ever played) was Spy Hunter, back in 1987.

I remember playing both Donkey Kong, and Pac-Man when I was really small, but I distinctly remember playing the heck out of the Galaga coin-op at the local pizza place. My dad used to play Defender all the time, and he actually won a trophy for holding the highest score at the local arcade when it was first released.

Don't know. When I was very young, I loved to go to Chuck E. Cheese's to play in the ball pits and stuff. I remembering them having a very large arcade, and that's most likely where I played my first. No idea what it was.

I do know, however, that it was where I beat my first one. I had always played them (I went to Chuck E. Cheese's for years, heh), but one day I was having a really good day on the Simpsons game. (That game rocked. hard.) So, I decided to cash in my entire day's worth of money (like $7 or something) and just turn them all into tokens. I played that game for so long, just pumping tokens into it. Finally, I remember beating the final boss, saving Maggie, and then having the experience to brag to my friends about. I still do :P
Come to think of it, I'm really amzaed that I did that. hehe, I was a tough little gamer ;)
