There will always be those who cast their votes for the Genesis, NES, and the like, but there seems to be a general concensus that the Saturn and TG-16/PC Engine are the two BEST consoles for shooters. I know a lot about the Saturn, but not much on the TG-16/PE Engine.
Your thoughts?

Saturn.
I think the TG-16 is awesome if you're into horizontal shmups, but I prefer the top down manic style which the Saturn has in abundance.

TG16/PCE. IMO, best hands down. Reason? It has MORE shmups than Sat. And they are the type I prefer (older style blasters). NO polygons, no "manic" games ( I really dislike the "bullet swarm" and "reflect/absorb" trend in shmups Remember when shooters were good without relying on gimmicks?.) These things started on some of the "best" shmups for Saturn. Don't get me wrong, I have 2 Saturns a nd a ton of shmups for them......but neither of them has been hooked up in over a year, and my Duo has been, since the day I got it. :)
All personal taste I guess.

I've only got a few TG-16 shooters, and no PC Engine or variation thereof. These are the only TG-16 shooters I have-
Deep Blue (crap)
Dragon Spirit
Fantasy Zone
Galaga '90
Magical Chase (overrated)
Psychosis
Raiden
R-Type
Sidearms
Space Harrier
For Saturn, on the other hand, I have bunches. Some of my favorites:
Batsugn (insane)
Battle Garrega
Dezaemon 2
Galaxy Force 2 (kicks the Genny's ass)
In The Hunt (but too much slowdown)
Radiant Silvergun
Sonic Wings Special
Strikers 1945 1&2
Thunderforce V
I need to work on my TG-16 collection, but I don't have the cash to pick up a PC Engine or any of the good games. :(

I must abstain from the voting, for while I love my Saturn, I've never been in the same room with a TG16/PCE. But I'm intrigued, as some of you swear by the system. How much should it (flea market/thrift/pawn) or would it (ebay/website) cost these days to set myself up with a system and, say, three quality shooters?
