I think my NES is dead... any ideas?

My NES worked fine 2 days ago, someone traded in bubble bobble at my work so i bought it, put it in my nes, presed power , it turned on but the screen was the grey fuzz, then it got ligher, lighter and nothing, now i cant even turn it on, it does nothing.....ive never had any of my NES's do that...is this a problem? is it fixable or is it...R.I.P?

yeah, i remembered i had another one laying around, tried that now it works, another fine job for Captian Overlook the Obvious
