NES characters not appearing on screen

So earlier today I thought I'd play some Rescue Rangers I fire up the ole NES and get started, but there's a problem I can't see my frickin character! I can move him but I can't see him. It's the same with Ice Hockey and all the other games i tried. Any ideas on how to fix this. I never got to play RR :(

Did you try cleaning the contacts? On both cart and NES? All sorts or graphical problems seem to pop up when one or the other isn't making contact properly.

I didn't have your exact problem, but I did have a nice looking background, but my character was composed of little boxes of garbled graphical crap.

Cleaning both got rid of the problem. If that doesn't work, one or more of your pins on the NES could be bent/not making contact.

Well I fixed it thanks. The inside of the system was incredibly dirty, but I cleaned it and now it lives again! *happily plays Rescue Rangers*
