The SNES had a lot of great games... but every system has awful games as well. What do you think were the worst SNES games?

Here's my list:

Space Ace - I played this for 20 minutes and couldn't get past the first part, where you're forced to dodge shots being fired at you. I couldn't dodge more than 3 shots. After that 20 minutes, I instantly took it back to Gamestop and exchanged it for something else.

Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story - I got this free from a friend and had I paid any amount of money for it, I would have felt ripped off. It's a fighting game where you can only play as Bruce Lee, and the controls leave a lot to be desired.

Alien Vs. Predator - Not to be confused with the excellent Jaguar game. On the SNES, we have a crappy beat 'em up where you play as a Predator fighting aliens. It's easy to get all your enemies off one side of the screen and kick their asses. Only the bosses present anything close to a real challenge. It gets boring really fast.

Secret of Mana: Ok, so the music, graphics, story etc. are great, but why the hell are my 2 partners such morons when it comes to fighting? I mean, seriously, one would hope that they would know not to get stuck behind walls :/

Anyone who looked at Bebe's Kids for the SNES for about 10 seconds will tell you it is one of the worst games they have ever seen. I played it for about 20 seconds and I couldn't take it.

OH YEAH! SoM is a great game if you do not have to play alone but i absolutely HATE the single-player mode, tried it several times and it's the same again and again, no matter how good you are and how good your stats/equipment is, i don't stand a chance against that tiger because of the damn AI

but Dragon?? i liked that game and it got a lot of good reviews too

Saying Secret of Mana is one of the worst games for the SNES is a bit of an exxageration. Secret of Mana objectively had excellent gameplay, and although the Tiger was easily the hardest battle in the whole game, I wouldn't go as far as to call it impossible. Patience is always rewarded...

Anyway, some SNES games you should definetly avoid:
Space Ace
Dragons Lair
WarpSpeed
Kablooey
Most movie licences(excluding Batman Returns)
All Street Fighter 2 clones

I doubt any of these are "the worst" but here it goes...

Actraiser 2 - pretty but boring
Battletoads/ Double Dragon - ugly and difficult
Captain Commando - poor final fight clone
King of Monsters 2 - Bleah
Starfox - sorry, but dated and boring
Super Godzilla - Double bleah!
Super Mario Kart - Having played the N64 version first, the graphics are dated and confusing...

Oh lets see:

Home Alone 2 - made by THQ in the early 90's... 'nuff said.

American Gladiators - who thought translating this to a video game was a good idea? Doesnt reach the same level of "SUCK" as the NES version but its close.

Rival Turf - "Me too" final fight/SOR clone

Combatribes - bad control

Heh,
Didn't mean to ruffle any feathers :) Granted I've played it only single player. The 'dated' doesn't bother me so much as the 'confusing' part. But I prefer the SNES F Zero over the N64 version.

Heck, I enjoy Club Drive for what it is.

I should have known somebody would slam poor Drakkhen. I think Drakkhen is a great game...it was the reason I bought a Super Nintendo, considering that at the time its only competition was the 3 launch titles and Bill Lambeer's Combat Basketball.

Drakkhen is really creepy, and that's its greatest feature. The gameplay is decent, especially for the time. The atmospheres it creates using lighting and music/sounds is quite convincing. One would appreciate this game more if they treated it like watching a movie or listening to a record.

Oh, and whoever said Pit Fighter--right on. That game is an unforgiveable turd. Compare it to the Genesis version and you'll laugh even harder at it.

Mario Kart is still super cool to this day the gameplay is amazing and the battle mode was the sh*t!!

I like the N64 re-incarnation too, but it never seemed fast enough, the tracks seemed slow i was a tiny bit let down, to this day Mario Kart Snes version is still the best!

When i bought SMK N64 i expected the whole snes engine (w/ extra's) and have the cool N64 graphics, lets say i just got the graphics.

In the end it's still a sweet game (n64 Mario Kart) and very enjoyable but i feel it could have been so much more.

Also here is a few more games that shouldn't have made the grade :

1. Lester the Unlikely hero
2. Lamborghini American Challenge
3. James Bond Jnr
4. Pink goes to hollywood
5. Tom and Jerry
6. Race Drivin'
7. Raiden Trad
8. Street Combat
9. Skuljagger

I could go on and on!! i hear so many people today moan about PS2 / XBOX / GC games, but give them a taste of some of the 90's gaming sh*t and they'll be begging for there next gen consoles / Games in a heart beat!!

Bah... I found the game to be pretty craptacular myself, although I didn't have the benefiet of playing the game when it was first released (although I love older games so I really don't see why I would have liked it any better 10 years ago), but if it's any consolation I loved Dragon View (Drakkhen's sequal).

I might be alone in this, but I really hate pilotwings. I really liked the N64 one though. Gunforce is also terrible. It's like contra or metal slug if you took out everything that made those games fun.

I'm sure I have played tons of crappy snes games, I just can't think of one now. One that does come o mind, though, is Axelay. I really don't like the game, considering it's so hard, although I'd probably like it more if I was batter at it.

Also, SOM is a great game. The AI for your allies may suck, but a good game, nonetheless. Also, Super Mario Kart is fun, and the N64 version was crap compared to it. I never really liked the N64 version that much, and I'd take the 2D graphics than the 3D graphics any day. Lastly, Drakkhen is afun, but I have no idea what in the world I am supposed to do. the battle system is neat, and the way you get from place to place, and the fact that you can run into trres and water and stuff is quite neat. The only thing I don't like is the annoying sounds the enemies give and that you can't control your guys during a battle.

What bothered me about SNES SMK in particular is the flatness of the objects that shouldn't be flat on the courses like the green pipes for instance. An to be (un)fair, I played Mario Kart 64 for around six months in a dorm room environment with almost always at least three players. It replaced Teevee that semester!

plus:

Rap Jam Volume 1
Shaq Fu ( said earlier)
Spiderman/X-Men: Arcade's Revenge (most super hero games were bad. But one The Adventures of Batman game that was great was the one that was based on the animated series. It followed the early cartoon very closely in its animation and wasnt on Genisis)

Super Mariio Kart is definitely better than MK64, surely in one-player mode. I don't like that in MK64, it doesn't matter if you use stars or lightning in that game, the oither drivers are just behind you again in 2 seconds.

Jeremy Parish of 1UP.com showed me a Super Nintendo title called Brandish back when he was living in Michigan. He had told me about the game in the past, but I wasn't expecting it to be so frighteningly bad. When he first described it to me, I thought that the levels rotated smoothly whenever you turned, like in the overhead scenes in Contra III. That would have been disorienting enough, but the playfields actually shift 45 degrees every time you turn. There's no smooth transition from North to West... it just switches from one viewpoint to the next. The rest of the game was already very unimpressive, but the shifting viewpoints shifted its quality from first gear to reverse.

I'm going to defend Lagoon here. I played that game when it first came out, and really liked it. Yes, it's kinda dated now, but the gameplay was fun, the graphics were good for the time, and the music is GREAT. I still listen to it to this day.

Drakken was a fun game as well, but I can see how you can get confused on what to do without a walkthrough. I think the PC version was better -- the game was a port.

And Batman Returns by Konami was a fun game as well -- good action and very nice music.

I'm going to say Populus was a bad game. Bleh! LOUSY port when compared to the original PC game.

Actraiser 2 was a huge disapoinment after the classic that the first one was.

I thought Y's 3 was pretty average as well.

DigitalSpace

I thought Super Mario Kart was an okay game. I wouldn't put it in my personal top 10 or even top 20 games of all time, but it would be somewhere in the top 50 (though it would be in my top 20 SNES games). I think it was an innovative game but imo it's gotten a bit dated. Mario Kart 64 was a lot better to me; in fact, it's my favorite racing game of all time.

Back on the main topic, another horrible SNES game is Advanced Dungeons & Dragons: Eye Of The Beholder. It's a point and click game that's very slow and boring.

Drakken is pretty bad too. I had it back in the day, and after giving it an hour, I didn't get that far, and the game never gave me any interest towards trying.

There's ALWAYS going to be arguments of SMK vs MK64... very few people seem to like both, you seem to be either one or the other :P

Most people I know prefer SMK, mainly because of complaints the weapons system was too unbalanced in MK64 and didn't rely more on actual driving skill (until you try doing the shortcuts!).

Skuljagger's Revenge is horrid. I played it in the past and it sucked, but yesterday I was bored and gave it a second try I made it to level 2 and was so tired of it and quit the game is so cheesy and the scrolling is so choppy. This game is just aweful. Any one agree?

I used to love Rival Turf! I had the import Super Famicom version of it. It was called Rush N' Beat and it included 8 megs instead of the 4 that was in the american one.

And the Sega Genesis version of Captain American and The Avengers is light years better than the Super Nintendo one and much more true to the arcade. After all, thats what sega was known for.

I can't believe that some people say that Mario Kart is bad. Batman Returns rocks for SNES, so idk what some of you are talking about.

Games that really sucked on SNES:

Well, I'm used to using the B button for acceleration on SNES racing games, and X is too awkward. There is a control option that allows you to use the B button, but you have to use L and R to turn instead of left and right on the d-pad! What were they smoking when they thought that up?
