Hello everybody!
I bought the retro Gameboy Advance SP yesterday and noticed that it has a rather visible blue tint to the color when lit. I still have my platinum SP and there is a very visible difference as the platinum one has no such tint. Anyone have the same problem? I'm wondering if I should return it and get another one in hopes that it won't have the blue. It's not a huge deal, but it's definitely noticeable. I just wanted to see if others have that problem before I return it.
Thanks!

I sure havent noticed anything like that. You should just take yours down to the store and see if you can compare it to another. Or just return it and get a new one. If you still notice the blue tint then it's probably just the way that the system is, but like I said, I havent noticed anything like that.

I've had over 10 Sp's and some have a blue tint to the light and some don't.
In fact of the 3 I have right now , one of them is very blue compared to the other 2. :hmm:
If it bothers you I'd say take it back.
By the way I've done a lot of Afterburner installs on the original GBA and even some of them had a bluish tint.

i just turned both my SPs on, and while there is a slight difference in the tint, it is nothing too noticeable....if it bothers you, like someone else said, bring it back as defective.

I brought it back and the guy opened another new one...it had the same blue tint. It's really not that big a deal but it's definitely noticeable. I just kept mine. The NES version is too cool not to keep.

I'm thinking it could be a few things:
It's a later model and therefore could be 'sealed' better than earlier SPs. I remember some early complaints about dust creepage. Less light could be escaping the LCD enclosure as a result hence the tint.
A revision in the form of another type of LED, probably cheaper or longer lasting, I'm thinking cheaper considering the blue tint.

My NES SP also has a blue tint to it. No biggie, not gonna play it.
I think Brat may be on to something. if you look down at the light it does have a blue tint to it. I would bet 100% that the new ones are sealed better. My other SP I picked up at is clearer, but, has dust inbetween.
