After last week's somewhat complicated game, I think everyone's going to enjoy this week's pick by k8track. Plenty of bright colors, fun music, and a fun twist on the maze craze can only mean one thing ...

Go! Go! Mile Smile by Fuuki is k8track's MAME Club pick of the week!

I'd have to say that this is my favorite game on MAME and it gets the most play. I was very happy to have discovered it by accident a couple of years ago, and nobody ever seemed to have heard of it, so I feel honored to give it some exposure.

If you're familiar with Anteater or Oil's Well (for Colecovision), you already know how to play this one. I'm a fan of the "Extend-Retract/Clear-the-Maze" genre, and the bright, fun colors and whimsical music make it irresistible for me. This game crystalizes everything I love about MAME--discovering an obscure gem and playing it again and again.

Wow! I didn't expect this game to be as fun or as addictive as it is! By the name of the game I figured there was going to be a lot more Japanese than there was.

You were right on the money when you mentioned Oil's Well and Anteater (I knew these from the C64).

I'm still trying to figure out what all the bonus items do. One stops time, one adds time, one turns you all rainbowy and lets you kill the baddies (with your head only, not your trail of chickadees). I guess the other are just points?

If you use continues it's almost impossible to determine what your score was. My two high scores are 152,000 and 162,000, reaching levels 8 and 10.

Great choice, k8track! This is perfect for the MAME Club -- an awesome game that I probably never would have heard of otherwise!

Thinking out loud "I must really be busy at work today....."

I played thru it, what would have been about $20 in quarters...
I was hoping for some pink-chicken-blob lovin', but the main character gets dissed......

It is a good game, I give it a thumbs up.

C'mon people! This is one of the most fun games we've had in a while. Check it out and respond, even if it's "I played it."

I played it.

;)

I've been hella busy this week, heck, the last 5 weeks have been tough for me...I do like the game quite a bit. Just haven't had a chance to sit down and play it seriously yet.

Ya, I've given it a shot too.

I like it, and think that it's fun. But, to me, it missing a little something to get me to keep playing it over and over. I've played it for about an hour or so already. Note, I'm playing it without music with my current computer setup. I'd recommend it and it gets my thumbs up for sure. It deserves a chance, and at least a good sitting through. So, like Flack said... give it a shot, and then tell us about it!

One thing I would add is that this game is absolutely maddening on my 8 way Gravis Pad. Diagonals are your enemy.

Finally got a chance to try this one... and wow, what an unusual game... There's not really much I can say about it that hasn't already been said, like Anteater comparisons and such. The style reminds me a bit of Neo Mr. Do for some reason (probably just due to the colorful Japanese graphics). The game gets awfully hard though... the enemies are quite relentless.

The music is an essential ingredient--you need the music! If you can get the chance, try to enable the sound. As the fairy in the game says, "Hi! Here, you'll need this." You'll love it. The music to Merry Park is my fave.

Eight-way joysticks, such as my X-Arcade, truly do make 4-way maze games an extra challenge. I wish it had a 4-way stick! Takes a lot of control. Diagonals are your enemy indeed.

I've never gone for a high score before--I've always ignored it and just kept using continues. But I did try it last night and got around 185,000 to stage 9. The longer you can eat without retracting, the bigger those points'll be. But man, those clowns make that pretty impossible.
