That's right, kids - it's time for New England Classic Gaming. It's been a cool summer thus far, so we're going to warm things up a bit! The date is Sunday, June 27th. The place is Christian's in Boston (as per usual). The details have yet to be considered. So yeah - the 27th. Be there.
And post here if you need anything. Watch for updates. If you're on our mailing list, then expect dirty email...er... information soon.

New England Classic Gaming Returns with another heavy trading, hard gaming get together!
Sunday, June 27th
2pm-8pm
Boston MA
no membership or admission is required, all are welcome.
The 11th NECG meet promises to be one of the best, with more members than ever and lots of game bundles turning up in the wild there should be something for everyone. from the 2600 to the xbox, PC and import games, hardware to homebrews...if its game related it turns up here to find a new home. if you've got a big pile of doubles or a small pile of cash it can surely be turned into a nice score, that goes for basic set ups and very rare items alike.
NECG also offers game collectors a chance to get together and have a good time, aside from the usual chips and beer sorta stuff we'll also be running another one of our action packed gaming contests. last time around we focused on classic multiplayer games to bring out some high scoring action, this time around we're looking to try something a little different... obscure and strange games! we figure by playing unknown games we'll see a contest based on pure gaming skills, or at least have a good laugh and check out some cool stuff.
if you've never attended one of get togethers before heres a brief primer on what we are and what to bring etc...
>NECG is a three year tradition in the boston area, we're a party and trademeet...not a convention or video game store
>NECG is made up of a bunch of local guys who met on atariage, digital press and RGVC. we're not affiliated with anyone, we're all about games and having a good time.
>we're mostly about trading games but we leave it up the individual guest to decide if they want to buy or sell games, nobody sets up shop and sometimes a cash option is really nice for those without a ton of tradebait.
>some of us like to have a beer and some dont, its a casual atmosphere not a frat party. nobody is encouraged to drink or anything like that, its about the vibe of watching a football game at a friend's place. smoking outside only please.
>nobody wears nametags or sits in a circle, we prefer gaming contests. its a friendly crowd, you dont have to hide your geek pride here.
> yes its in boston but on street parking is available and it is in a safe neighborhood far away from the big dig. its also very close to the subway, commuter rail and bus hub for those looking to use public transit.
> how to get there? mapquest this!

This actually will not be happening. Sorry, kids. ;)
keeeewwelewlwl!
I will have to leave early (probably around 5 or so) but I will be there right at 2 with armloads of trade goodies.
Chad, I'll see what I can bring along those lines. I will also bring those Atari games and the 32X. Sorry I never got back to you about that. Doesn't look like we'd be able to get together before the 27th anyway.

No problem. I'm glad you mentioned it, I have another somewhat larger 2600 carts purchase going through at that meet as well, so it looks like I'm going to be pulling in a few hundred 2600 carts on the 27th. Rock ON.

I should be along, don't see any reason why not as of now anyways.
If anyone wants me to bring anything specific, send an e-mail to Sylentwulf@ElectricQuarter.com
You can try replying here or PMiing me, but I've only been logging on once every couple of days/once a week due to the speed of the site, so e-mailing might be the best way.
See ya all then!

2 more reasons to attend, like you need anymore reasons after learning that clubninja will be there in the flesh!
1) NECG hardcore "ewok" joe has threatened to bring his new van and camper rig to my street, yes thats right he thinks he can park it here. no joe is not some sort of homeless vagabond, he actually plans on setting up an entire camper full of trade goods @_@ . if he makes good on this its not something you'll want to miss, joe has crazy amounts of stuff!
2) toddst is getting his cube freak on, todd will be sponsoring some sort of nifty pac man vs. contest. the prize should be decent and todd should be a pushover once he has some schlitz in him!

I thought that there were going to be more people having game contests. Crap, the pressure is on. How can I out do the Video Game Oympics from the last meet? The answer is that I can't. So, this contest is going to suck and the prize is going to suck even more, but it is going to be free so you have no choice but to be a part of it.
Actually, it might not suck too much. I just got an idea...
Oh, does anyone have a NES Top Loader in their trade pile?

So, here is the contest:
The Gamecube Challange:
Okay, so here is a brief description of this season’s NECG contest and it also allows me to indulge my current Gamecube and GBA obsession. So, here is how it is going to go down:
-There will be no contributions to the prize pot. I am going to dig through my stuff and grab a few things that winner might enjoy. I’m a cheap bastard so the pot won’t be very good. I am thinking that I would like it to be game related items rather than games.
-The contest is going to consist of 3 or 4 Gamecube games (hopefully, all will be 4- player). The games that are definitely going to be a part of the contest are Zelda: Four Swords and Pac-Man Vs. The other games might be Super Monkey Ball 2 Racing, Wario Ware, or something else…I still haven’t decided.
-The idea is to have a champion from every game who will then compete in a final game for the prize.
-So, let’s say the first game is Wario Ware. Four people will compete. The winner will stay and the three losers will be replaced with three new contestants. The cycle will repeat until everyone has played and the game has a champion. The champion will be the last person standing. (Yes, you will be at an advantage if you get picked for the last round of a game since if you win that game, you will be the champion.)
-Everyone can compete in each title…So, this will give you 3 or 4 chances to go on to the finals.
-I haven’t decided what the final game will be.
Please note: I have 2 GBAs and 2 cables to connect the GBAs to the GC. In order for us to be able to play Zelda: Four Swords as a 4 person game, I need to more GBAs and cables so if you have them, please bring them.
If you have a 4-Player GC game that you can bring to NECG contact me since I only own Zelda: 4 Swords & Super Monkey Ball 2....Otherwise, the other games will depend on what the video store has in stock.
Also, if someone can figure out a way for us to bet on individual players during this competition, contact me. If someone can work this out, the stakes have to be low…

New England Classic Gaming's Good Trader Guidelines
Our get togethers are about having a good time and getting some great deals, in order to help keep it that way we've put together this short list.
1) make a list of what you're bringing to sell/trade, use it to keep track of what went to who. this will help cut down on "missing items". you'll also want to keep a list of what you picked up and from whom. get the other traders email, use it to deal with them directly should any problems arise.
2) to the best of my knowledge nothing has ever been stolen at one of our meets but with so many boxes of games mix-ups can happen. if possible bring your items in a box with a cover, when you're not on the trading floor put the cover on your stuff. also consider making a sign for your box with your name on it so everybody knows who to deal with
3) we're setting up a testing station for consoles! pretty simple stuff, you get an outlet and a TV ready for A/V and RF inputs. if possible i will help you with power supplies and TV hook-ups. i'm not prepared for you to test out each and every game you buy, its just too much to be running a meet while assisting everyone with my 20 some consoles. if you do get a dud game contact the trader and see what can be worked out. nobody is here to pull a fast one but many of us churn thru so many old games its not possible to test them all.
4) treat everyone else and their property with respect, lets keep this NECG tradition going! we're all game collectors here so follow the golden rule, treat people and their stuff like you'd want to be treated. make fair offers (dp guides will be on hand for this purpose) and only bring items you really want to trade. trading works on a first come first serve basis, trying to outbid another trader is just bad manners.
hope that helps, happy trading to all!

5) Don't make trades in the street or people will get suspicious! ;)

Saturn
Playstation
Virtual Boy setup, totally complete with stand, controller, etc - one eye
has a screwed up picture. Good for parts or tinkering.

Funny thing about that. I was speaking with Kirk at the meet yesterday and he was telling me how amazing it is that I'm still not burnt out on doing the complete coverage for every meet. I told him that I am. He explained that it wasn't a surprise, considering how consistently I've done it, and I shouldn't sweat it. So, I decided to think of something else, and you've totally nailed my concept:

Ok, ok, ok - they're here! The good and the bad.
Bad: Between work, being very sick mid-week, and lack of motivation, there's no fancy presentation to this meet's coverage.
Good: You're getting every picture taken (minus the ones that got messed up when I dropped the camera at one point) instead of the usual "best of" that I selected. Also, you get to make your own comments instead of just reading mine. Just be nice ;)
