Hit the thrift stores this morning.

Sealed Dreamcast Web Browser
Phantasmagoria (PC)

One place had a freakin' ton of PC games. I guess a guy cleaned out his desk drawers. Some newer stuff, too, like Dungeon Seige. Passed on all of it because $3.50 a piece to me isnt a thrift store price. Should have been $1 each.

Not my own luck, but another person's to report.

My buddy who runs the game store downtown picked up a TurboExpress (yes, working - I tested it with JJ and Jeff :) ) for a measly 10 bucks.

Oh wait - not just an Express, but an Express with the TV Tuner, all the cables, and about eight or nine HuCards (including Devil's Crush) - for a measly 10 bucks.

 :P LOL

If I can get my $23 Intellivision bundle working, I'll be just as happy. But until then... @_@

The thrifts had jack, so I took advantage of Gamestop's latest 1-free-for-2 thingie and picked up some long standing PS2 goodies: Soul Calibur II and Spider-Man, both for $30. For the freebie I got Bionicle for GBA. My son's a bog Bionicle fan so he'll eat that one up.

I found:

Atari 2600 VCS w/ a few controllers, space invaders, mousetrap - 50$

Now note that I said found. Yes....value village my ass.

They also had a channel f there but considering I have one of those turds rotting in my closet I decided to not even ask after walking out.

Think it's time to take a little break from hunting and start playing some more, been doing too much of it in the last month, it's really wearing on me.

Bought Bubble Bobble NES for $2 from a closing Mom and Pop video rental shop.

Dragon Warrior VII - 5.00

Argh! I've been looking for that game forever. I only see it at GameStops for $30. Yagh. Nice find. ;)

I have spent way way too much on thrifts and pawns in the past couple weeks so I'm going to start slowing down. However, this week I got:

Mac Plus working w/ keyboard - $10
Mac PowerBook Duo 230 working w/ lots of accessories - $35
And various NES and other carts not really worth listing. Gonna have some fun with Macs! :P

Think it's time to take a little break from hunting and start playing some more, been doing too much of it in the last month, it's really wearing on me.

Vallue Village is pathetic. First off, they have a lousy selection. Usually all I ever see there are a couple of Genesis and an occasion N64 or NES. And that's on a GOOD day. The only 3 good things I've ever seen there (and no, not a that same time) were a Saturn, a SNES 2, and a 2600. Which leads into my second reason for their suckitude---price. They are waaay to expensive for a second hand store. Remember that afore mentioned Atari? They wanted $80 for it. $80! True, it came in its box, but it had no games (and wasn't a heavy sixer.) That's about $60 too expensive in my book. I mean come on! Most of the stuff they get for free!

However, it's cool you saw a Channel F. I've been looking for one and have never seen it in the wild (I can't bring myself to pay the $30+ it goes for on ebay. Besides, half the fun is in the hunt, so ebay feels like cheating.) I'd be curious to know how much they were selling it for. Certainly not as much as that Atari, but I'd still wager it was $20-$30. A good find, sure (at least I think so) but undoubtedly an awful price (I assume.)

So to sum up--Value Village blows.

And I guess I should try and stay on topic while I'm at it.

This week I have found precisely squat. The thriftstores up in the Pudget Sound area seem to be very picked over lately. I had a small find at the flea market this weekend (SNES2) but nothing during the week (or last week, or the previous.) Oh well, it's kind of refreshing to watch my savings account grow rather than my checking account shrink.

Agreed wufner, even for games they charge way too fucking much. 4.95 for an astrosmash cart with a smashed (no pun intended) side? Hmmm....how about a middle finger?

The channel f didn't have the cover to the box, just the bottom part it sat in. It's different than the one I have....it was much bigger, and it had one of the games, not sure which, I have no games. I found mine at a nice thrift where I've gotten some great finds and it had the box but no documentation or anything. I hate that pos. If it wasn't a collectable system I would burn it to death. Oh well. It was only 6 bucks. I doubt they resell for shit.

Decided to expand my thrifting radius this week and found a really cool pawn shop. They had a bunch of NES games, 5 for $10.

The Blue Marlin
Casino Kid 2
Whomp 'Em (so bad)
Double Dragon 2
Gun Smoke
Vegas Dreams

and...

Blackjack (yay)

I went all over this past week and found a bunch of good stuff. First off, I went to the same place I got Mountain Bike Rally and the Sega CD games. I passed on the N64 games before, but this time I picked up:

Dr. Mario
Diddy Kong Racing
Kirby 64
Mario Tennis
Pokemon Stadium 2

For $30 (buy three for 9.99, get two free) with boxes for all and the operation card with Diddy Kong Racing (no manuals however).

Unfortunately, I was an idiot and didn't check the connectors for every game. Mario Tennis had a whole chunk of the connectors broken off (how the hell does someone manage that?), and Pokemon Stadium 2, while looking in great shape, refused to work (looks like the connectors were worn far too thin). I took both back and luckily had no problems with the employee there. All I had to say was "These are broken", and I handed them over. I had remembered that there was a loose Mario Tennis cart the last time, which I did manage to find again, but its connectors were messed up too (deep scratches into the metal). I ended up replacing the two games with:

Excitebike 64
Beetle Adventure Racing

Also with boxes but no manuals.

This week I went to a Goodwill store for the first time ever (at least as far as I can remember). I found:

Genesis 1 with two 3 button controllers, the AC adapter, and NFL Football 94 - $12.99
Genesis 6 button arcade controller - $2.99

The Genesis is good because not only is it in really nice shape and I can sell back later for a tiny profit, but now I can finally play my Genesis games this summer. I brought along a Genesis 3, but we haven't been able to find the RF for it. With the Genesis 1, we can just use an NES RF, of course. Actually, the system is in such clean and nice condition, we might just keep this one and sell the other Genesis 1 back in New York. The arcade controller is also really nice and clean. I opened it up and cleaned it thoroughly, but there was hardly any dirt or grime on it. The stick is great, and the buttons are very springy. :) Too bad the Goodwill had jack shit when it comes to games, though.

I went to some Christian thrift store that had one lone NES cart sitting around in front of some books:

Double Dragon 2 - $.99

I went to get my hair cut on Wednesday (over a foot, and I donated my hair for an organization that makes wigs for kids with cancer :) ), and there was a GameStop RIGHT NEXT to the place. I couldn't resist checking it out, especially since I had time to kill while my mom was getting her hair cut. The place had absolutely no NES, SNES, Genesis, or Dreamcast left. However, they were doing the "buy 2, get 1 free" sale, so I made an impulse buy:

For Game Boy:
Castlevania 2: Belmont's Revenge (completes my original Game Boy Castlevania collection, and one step closer to having every US-released Castlevania game that I want. ^_^ )
Boxxle (thought it was rare, got confused with its sequel :/ )
Battle Arena Toshiden (eh, why not, not a lot to choose from as far as 4.99 Game Boy games go)

I got 'em for 11.98 plus tax, so that's not too shabby I think.

I when I went to return the aforementioned broken N64 games yesterday, my boyfriend picked out a few cool NES and SNES games they got it in (which was a surprise to me, since I figured they wouldn't bring in anything that old):

TMNT 4: Turtles in Time (SNES) - $2.99
Power Instinct (SNES) - $2.99
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) - $2.99
TMNT 2: The Arcade Game (NES) - $1.99
Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (NES) - $1.99

Since it's still "buy 3, get 2 free", the NES games were free, so the total was $6.97 plus tax. The lady there gave us a free t-shirt too. I frickin' love this store. :) I would've bought some other stuff (Superman and DuckTales on NES just to name a couple), but I'm waiting a few days for the sale to change to "buy 2, get 2 free".
