The game is only average at best. I did beat it in the last week and used about 4 continues.

this is one of those games that you'll either like a little or hate a LOT, so try not to spend a lot of $ on it. i ended up buying it no less than three times since 1997. the first time i spent $28 on a sealed one, hated it and sold it for $30, the second time was about a year later when someone asked me to track one down (i paid $19 for a used minty one), but he ended up with one through another source, so i sold that one off for $40 to someone DYING to have it. the third i got for free (disc only) from a friend in japan who sent me 8 games sold as coasters (really!) in a used game shop. i ended up using perma-spin liquid on the disc to get out the scratches and made $15 in the process when i sold that one off.
funny thing is i'm on a bad games kick lately, so i'll most likely end up with another one soon... LOL

Welll geelw, if you spy a cheap copy or two let either of us know where to get it.
I'm always needing a "beat em up" game fix...but i do know that not all are equal" (yeah i'm talking about you, Rival Turf)
How are the controls on this game?
Are the bad guys excessivly cheap?
Is it any fun to play?

in reverse order: it depends. if you though riot zone, vigilante, and rival turf were great, this is your game. if you've played 'em all and ONLY want the best of the best, you'll hang yourself with your controller cable.
it's not that the badguys are cheap (some are, and some are defintely NOT, in a stupid way)...
it's that the controls are somewhat lacking overall (play for an hour- remember, it's NOT analog), and your fingers will be a'bleedin' LOL
still, the game has its value as it's LONG out of print and not the easiest thing to find these days...

Thats why i would be hoping for the Saturn version :)
But a PSX version would be alright as i got one of those RetroCon controllers and even if the game doesnt support the analog you can still get the stick to work in place of the D-Pad.

The Saturn version is just as bad for controls.

But the Saturn has a better D-pad than the PSX.

Even so your fingers will still be hurting after playing it.

actually, az is correct. the ps version was programmed first, and technosoft really didn't do much when porting it to the saturn. an interact barracuda helps with the movement a lot, but the game still kinda clunks along...

Sorry to crash so late but I feel this must be said. I own Saturn Nekketsu Oyako and liked it a lot for a while, but now I'm back to earth on it.
6/10 title but at least there isn't much slowdown. In the PSX version, its plagued with HORRENDOUS slowdown!
Get the Saturn version if you can, also, it's not so hard to find, and about 15-20 bucks. Got mine for 15 bucks November 2002.

It used to be less expensive some years ago before people knew about the game. Getting it for $15.00 to $20.00 can be somewhat hard.
