Do you save any of your game reciepts, if so were?

I save most of mine in a little black fire-proof box :D

Sure do. That way I can total the amout spent on games at the end of the year and laugh at myself.

I did, for a full year about 4 years ago. Most of them were from EB. I was buying most of my stuff on release day back then and hardly had any bills. I cnat remember the exact amount but it was somewhere around $3,500!!! @_@

Yup.

I especially keep the receipts that show the title of the product.

I also keep each receipt in their respective game box/case for a nostalgic feel in the future as well as proof that I actually paid "X amount" for the said game waaaay back in the day.

I still have a couple of receipts from around 1994. ;)

If I buy multiple games in one transaction and all the titles are listed on one receipt, I usually let my favorite title out of the lot 'keep' the receipt.

At one point I had, but everything's a mess now they've been scattered all over and some are probably thrown away.

Besides, I'd be afraid to know how much I've spent. LOL

Yes, I keep as many of them as possible in their original boxes. I've been doing this since I got my Commodore 64 in 1985, however, some of my VIC20 games also have receipts. Most every game I own has its original receipt in the box. Even some of the retrogames I've picked up had their receipts.

Some of these receipts have held up better than others, mostly due to fading.

Oh shit, I am too afraid of finding out how much I spend!
I didn't know so many people kept their receipts for games. I usually have at least 2-3 receipts every weekend, at least from games, so if I kept all of them I would have way too many.
I do wish I would have kept my receipts from stuff I bought from way back, like some of the launch day systems I have bought. I think I am going to start saving my receipts from now on. It would be cool to look back on how much I spend.

i've always made a habit of doing that with books, using the receipt as a bookmark. i do the same with a lot of my games. its kind of a cool touch to find a decade later. one time i scored a boxed intellivision II and it had the receipt and a little note in it.

the note read something like-

dear bill,

this should be good for the boys on rainy days, the man at the store said you dont need a special tv to use it. call your brother if you need help setting it up

love mom

that note really got to me, i could just imagine this grandma talking to the kmart electronics guy and shipping it off to her grandkids. i kept it in the box.

The only receipt that I ever kept was for Super Mario Brothers 3, also the first game I ever bought on the day of release.

Since then, I have only purchased Perfect Dark on the day of release, and I have no clue where that receipt went (and quite frankly, compared to SMB3, I could care less ;) )

I keep all my receipts, in a shoe box in the closet where all the boxes to my games and system are. It's really amazing to leaf through the receipts from a decade ago to see I actually spent $400 on a Saturn when it first came out @_@

I tend to keep the receipts with the games in the same box. I do it mostly because I've been buying a lot of used games and if they cease to work within the 14 days I want to be able to grab the box and be ready to return it without having to rummage around trying to remember if I still have it.

I used to about a year ago but in the last few months I just trash em all. I always have no problems with games not working so I just toss receipts now.

This is one collector trend that I just can't figure out. o_O I don't understand the mentality of it. I think nothing of receipts, so in the recycle they go. The only time I hang onto them is if I write something important on them, or if I can't remember all the games purchased so I keep it until I update my game collection page. The only exception I can think of is my receipt from when I bought my PSX, Final Fantasy 7, and Star Ocean: The Second Story. I think the only reason I held onto it is because it says "Star Ocean: The Second Story" on it. :P It's completely faded now, though.

I do have a really good memory about my purchases, however. Despite the hundreds I've bought, I can remember where, when (year-wise, roughly), and how much I got a game. It's the memories I care about more than the actual paper receipts.

I saved all my receipts from 2000 and 2001, as I was reselling games then. I need them in case I get audited, even though my totals were not really "auditible" material. Even if I didn't pay tax and got busted, it'd only be a few grand I'd owe uncle sam.

I have kept every single receipt I have a received - bar two. Diddy Kong Racing (N64) and Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (GBC).

I allways keep my recipts. If its a cd game it goes in the instructions but if its for a loose cart it goes in my Dreamcast.

Whoa let me clarify they go in my empty Dreamcast shell.

I hate to double post but I cant edit for some odd reason. Any who, what I meant by "If its for a loose cart I put it in my Dreamcast" is that I have an empty DC shell that I use for storage.

I've had my FF2 receipt since 1992 (69.99 + tax!), and I also have my Gameboy Player receipt still in my car. I did have a couple of receipts from when I bought some complete NES games back in Oregon for $5 each, but lost those...

I toss my reciepts into the cases with the games unless they're large reciepts. Sometimes it's fun to open up a game 5 years later and remember how much or how little you paid. And it's hilarious to watch people's ey4es bug out at the reciept for my Amiga (over $2000) that I got at a yard sale for $10, same with my $80 3D0 that had the $400 reciept in the box! :D

i can tell you one really good reason to keep them.
if you amass a large collection over time, and then sell it for a lot of money somewhere- you will most definetely need to file it on your income taxes.
i wont get too in depth, but you can figure it out.
i keep every new receipt, cause i figure i will need all i can get someday.
if you dont want your receipts, send em my way.

I hang on to mine and put them in the case with the manual. In the future, I figure it would be cool to look at the receipt and think back and say "I paid how much for this game?" x_x 8-)

I always kept and still keep most of the receipts in the game boxes. At first I did that in case something is wrong with the game, and then it became an enjoyable habit, it's about the irrational feel of authenticity keeping the receipts.

This way I know that I bought a new Castlevania 4 for $59.99 on 9/26/92 at a local ToysRUs. On the other hand, I paid only $20 for a new Castlevania Dracula X. :)

My receipt for the NES toplader (still everything wrapped in the box) says a bought it in March 1996 at ToysRUs for $25.

It's nice to look at these receipts with date and time 15 years after the purchase. :)

I never really gave it that much thought. I did start kepping track of my Dreamcast games on a Works spreadsheet including how much I spent and what they are worth. I was planning on carrying this idea over for my entire collection anyway. I can remember what I spent for 95% of my stuff.

I keep recipts for EVERY thing I own, I lost everything in a fire so now I have a database of everything I buy, mostly for insurance and taxes, but it also is setup to plot a graph and I can trim my budget to be able to buy things I want.
