In the rarity guide it says that 2500 DK competition carts were made, and it is R9, but it also says that less than 2000 Fun N Games were made and it is R8. Also the Mountain Bike Rally / Speed Racer game is listed as R8 and in subtext says that only 50 are known to exist. That makes it almost as rare as the NWC Gold if that is really the case, although many more of the MBR/SR have been "found" than NWC Gold. Just curious. I'd love to see these rarity numbers upgraded if these games are really rarer than R8.

In reality, I imagine there are more than 50 Mountain Bike Rally/Speed Racer carts, but I still would put it in the R9 catagory. Fun and Games pops up enough to warrent the R8 rating. Personally, I would bump up International Superstar Soccer to an R8 or R9.

First, Fun N Games is listed as an R8 versus the DKC comp because of method of distribution. The Comp carts were never for sale at retail, only as a prize or mail order. This fact puts it at an R9, even with near production runs.

For MBR/SR, 50 are known to exist, right now. The production run is not numbered at 50 - odds on, 1000 pieces at the least (any less doesn't make much sense for a retail game). We can't say how many still exist. The production run of the NWC Gold is 26, this is confirmed.

Both will stay where they are.

Thanks for the response. I had an idea that the mode of distribution might have something to do with it.

Hey, while I am thinking about it. Someone said that you guys were considering removing the International Superstar Soccer games because they were only released in mexico or something. True?

And, has it really been verified that the game "Barbie Vacation Adventure" exists. Seriously, please don't answer that one unless you know for sure.

Thanks,
Victor

The scan of the box for ISS said that it was for sale in Mexico, US, and Canada. Unfortunately, I do not have that scan anymore.

Both ISS games are South american releases and Barbie vacation adventure was not released, at least that was the case when I compiled my SNES collection and I don't think it has changed.

And don't look for Nathan to have any more up on ebay. He sold the last of them off to a few collectors and kept one for himself. He has been the only source for all the new copies up till now. Dave is right that more should show up somewhere, but so far they haven't. I did hear that someone else has a few of them (like around 30), but is not selling them. Even with those, that would still place the total amount under 100.

I wouldn't call it an NWC and a rarity of 8 is fine for now, until more is known about the distribution methods/total print run (if possible). Don't be surprised though if only a few surface from time to time. SNES collecting is still in its beginning years so rarity lists will be changed and fine tuned as more information is known and found.

There was a guy a few months ago who had some copies that he got from a gym that was clearing out old stock. I imagine more will eventually show up.

Hey

I think the NWC cart holds alot more importance, since it was a comp cart and probably one of the first Nintendo comps. (I'm not a nes collector thou!)

Also here is the "Auction" (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3074157942)that i scooped up the last of a bunch of MBR / SP carts the seller had 5 or 6 i think, i got the last one he had for auction.

The MBR / SP cart wasn't anything special.. it wasn't for any comp, and how many of you have the exercise bike to go with it? i'd pick up one just cos' it's snes related, but i'm in the UK and shipping would be murder!! LOL

Also (i'm sure you all know this) Another Fluke had a few of these sealed, on ebay a few months back, i'm not sure if he has any more??

And MY holy Grail! is ISS (Superstar soccer) not because nobady can find it but it was huge in the UK and if any of you snes players / collecters like soccer this game is the Sh*t!!

I have mentioned this numorous times, Konami Europe told me that the only ISS game released in the US was on the N64, but i then read an articule, where the head of Konami (In Mexico) and his team had to choose which Konami Title was to get a Mexican release.

the games where ISS and Pop n Twin bee, since Soccer is huge in mexico, so ISS got the green light..

Both these titles got UK release's, and both where great games, i still to this day can't understand why both games didn't get a US official release..??

for all you US snes collectors it is worth picking up both Pop, and ISS and a convertor and play them thru your US snes, there sweet games!!

PS. Does anybody on the DP forums have ISS (Mexican release) ??

..XS ( ahhh another long post  )

We're talking about the same person :) That's Nathan and he only has one left for himself. I truly believe a few more WILL show up eventually, but it's going to take alot to get it beyond the less than 100 figure we are at right now. It still is odd that more haven't shown up yet though.

Hey Danny

Ahhhhh! i see (Sealed MBR/SP) i get ya now, but the guy i got mine from was only selling the game no box or manual (just the cart) he had about 5 of these carts..

I can only imagine, these carts and exercise bikes most have only been offered to gyms and the like, in some kind of promo deal (not sure) but i never heard anything else about them?

So there is a good chance (as has been mentioned here) that only a limited run of the MBR / SP carts where made..

Which leads me to... how many gym owners had this cart and the exercise bike and just thru them into the trash! thinking they were worthless??

So if you have an old gym in your area, why not ask the next time your passin! you could find a huge snes rarity? ;)

Probably lots of the MBR/SR carts were thrown in the trash. There has been about 5 to 10 cart only's that have appeared on ebay and there are another 40 or so that are brand new and sealed. EVERY one of the brand new/sealed one's originated from one person, Nathan and no one else (at least up to this point in time). That exercise equipment would be 10+ years old right now and most health clubs would have updated their equipment. The chances of a health club keeping a video game are probably pretty slim, but you never know.

The guy on ebay that you received the cart only from (and had like 5) came from health clubs. We'll just have to wait and see when/if some more start showing up.

I'd really like to get a sealed MBR/SR.. i have noticed one or 2 other sealed MBR/SR one was from a fellow DP'r and another one was on ebay recently but it looked alittle worn..

Also i just noticed i kept typing MBR/SP and not SR (Dohh) that reminds me i'm gunna have to snag me the new Nes classic (GBA SP) they look pretty sweet.

(( Off topic ))

Also Danny just out of interest do you still have some of those Snes proto's? also i noticed something in your signature.. maybe you'll be interested in *THIS* (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8111726689)not sure if you already know about it?

While down there, we must find out about Super Copa. It was another Latin America only release. I want to at least get scans of these games to confirm their existance.

It exists, DP has one. I've held it, it's quite real. It's lumped with ISS/ISSD in the guide.

Hey Portnoyd, it's nice to hear that Super Copa is in the land of the living, do you have any info in ISS or ISSD, or does anyone on DP have or seen them in the flesh ( ook in the plastic?! LOL )

This is an interesting topic. I will keep my eyes open and check out any fitness centers. While we on the topic of specialty releases, how many of you know that a Snes game was released for military training???? In 2000 I went through boot camp and got out of the army. When I was in there they had about 3 or 4 carts and a few consoles, the game was an M16 Target training game. It had a white label but I can't remember the name it had a full scale and weight M16 light gun that plugged in to it and showed you how well you did. It was in the old style Snes cart, so was and early dated sim. It may be worth checking surplus stores for any info on it. I wonder if they will update and get rid of it maybe eventually. I searched the net and found notta.

That's the first time I've ever heard of it. And I don't imagine it ever getting into our hands either... you thought NOA was tough to find proprietary stuff for? I bet the Army would throw you in jail if you got one. ;)

There is a rom dump of it, but unfortunately, it was not dumped correctly. I don't know if there is much other information on it.

What is the actual name of that military game then? Also the military would not dump this for any one to play, would this mean that some joe blow owns at least one copy? I think this should have a listing in the guide. What do you think everyone. This is on the lines of the nes lottery cart.

If we can get a name to go by, I'll toss it in prototypes for the time being. If we can't come up with a name, to the rumor mill it will go.

You guys are what makes this board so informative. There's the name M.A.C. Basic Rifle Simulation I love when we can add completely obscure stuff to the guide. I just want to know, where the heck did the rom originate from????!!!! I think this is very deserving of a spot in the guide, in my opinion it shouldn't be in the proto section. Its neither proto or one of a kind. It should be in the US releases or maybe the demos samplers and non games. It was officially released just not to the public, it is no diffrent than Raya System games, LightSpan PSX games or other specialty releases. Rarity and value will most likely never be able to be determined, so it should be like Air Raid was listed in the guide, with a good description and and $0/R0 at least until more is known about it. That's my opinion

portnoyd
06-16-2004, 05:06 PM
It will be added under that title, in protos/one of a kinds, at $0/R10. I'm sure everyone can agree with this. Description will be as what is contained in this thread.

XS, that is pretty awesome that you found that! So somewhere in America there is a team of SNES programmers generating games for the military! Unreal! Wonder if they did any games for any other systems? Like someonw said though, should be hard to get.
