Got this Commodore 64 "newer style" model at the flea market along with a couple of other systems.. was filthy as sin, but I've cleaned it now...

Looks like your regular Commodore 64, but does it have a dark secret? can anyone help me with something which appears odd?

It appears to be a C64"G" model? I read on the Internet that these were released only in Germany, it was the newer models inners, inside the old style case.. but the odd thing is, I'm in the UK, and this is a C64G in a newer style case, which surely defeats the objects of it being designated a C64G as the C64G apparently was only in Germany with the old case because the keyboard overlay for the music maker add on wouldnt fit over the newer model case?

If this makes any sense? here are some pics....

Overview of the Commodore C64G

Close up of the Commodore 64 badge - looks slighlty different than other ones?

The underneath which states it's a "C64G", and "Main assembly C64-II PAL"

Warranty sticker still intact?

Looks like a Commodore 64C to me, which was a cosmetic rev to match the look of the Commodore 128. Should act like a normal C64. Not sure why it says G on it. Perhaps the number of times the design (internals et all) of C64 has been tweaked?

Cheers,
Ben

It was probably described as a German release because, as you can see, it was made in (West) Germany.
I think my C64 is similar, but I've never really examined it in detail. I'll have a look tonight.

It is a C64C model. No idea why it has "G" stamped on it, unless by mistake. There WAS a G model in Germany, it was the standard breadbin shell, but in an off white colour, and usually with the newer motherboard inside. Not that easy to find and fairly priced...
