I see a lot of NGPC games on eBay that are described as new but are only the game and a plastic case. Normally I would immediately assume that they were pirate copies but they are usually domestic auctions. So as a general rule of thumb, are they fakes or are there a lot of "new old stock" type of games that never had packaging floating around? Thanks.

I know that the Neogeo Pocket and a few games were repackaged for EBX not too long ago. Just the system and 5 loose games in a clamshell package. That may be where some of them are coming from.

Yeah Ive seen a few different repackaging deals where you either get a few games in a cardboard-backed package or in a larger package with a console included. I thought maybe after NeoGeo decided to pull the plug on the NGPC in the US they just sold off the remaining systems and games sans packaging and that was why they are all over the market with no boxes or instructions, but I want to make sure before I go buying games. Speaking of which if anyone has extra NGPC games that they wanna sell or trade for let me know.

Neo Geo made a huge stock of games but hadn't yet packaged them when they closed. After the stock was bought out by who-ever-it-was-that-bought-them-out, they wanted to sell all the overstock but didn't want to bother making much for packaging which is why you can get the system in plastic and the games seperate for relatively cheap and can find a million of them on eBay.
A few games (Faseli is the one that stands out to me) never had North American boxes so that is as legit as they get on eBay :)
